Also in all AR approaches in Santos Dumont there is a restriction of 140KT before the RF leg on the charts. Gotcha. So the speed in the box for that leg should be coded at 140kt, that's what I was wondering (though if you're already configured at landing flaps, VNAV will just command target speed). The previous post made it sound as if there was some sort of arbitrary 170kt restriction on RF legs in general, which obviously there is not. It's all procedure-specific. Andrew Crowley

This was my thought too. The thing is, Ketchikan is kind of a special place. The runway itself is level, but the terrain slopes steeply away from it on 3 sides. The terminal ramp and parallel taxiway are well below the runway, and the taxiways slope up to both ends of the runway. There's a lot of mesh weirdness to cause an issue. He also floated much too far; in reality that would have been a go-around for sure. So he touched down in an area of the runway he probably doesn't usually touch down on, maybe explaining why he's never seen the bug there before. Andrew Crowley
April 19, 20224 yr https://www.twitch.tv/videos/1459725131 ^ Link to the cartwheel above, at 4:41:21 ^ "little bit high, so correcting, getting on center line, still high..coming back, one red on the PAPI..Ieveling out here for the three, there we go, landing long, didn't get the calls in, woop..come on baby..all right we're down..reversers are WHOAH. (4:43:21) "I flared too long... let's see if this works (he slews the plane back to center of runway and it cartwheels again. I think the cartwheel is a fault in the runway or the plane. Not pilot error (because the second time he was slewing the plane, not flying it). I have only ever used the ORBX Ketchekan, and not the default... , have not noticed irregular bumps on the runway. April 19, 20224 yr By the way, he was talking about doing something with setting up the reversers while still on the approach, before touchdown. 5800X3D, RTX4070, 600 Watt, one or two 1440p 32" screens, 64 GB RAM, 4 TB PCle 3 NVMe, Warthog throttle, VKB NXT EVO stick, Honeycomb Alpha yoke, CH quad, 3 Logitech panels, 2 StreamDecks, Desktop Aviator Trim Panel. April 20, 20224 yr This whole thing reminds me of the invisible object on the taxiway in the default KLAX in FSX. I think it was taxiway C somewhere between C1 and C5. If you went down it with crash detection on, you crashed every time. i9-10850K, ASUS TUF GAMING Z490-PLUS (WI-FI), 32GB G.SKILL DDR4-3603 / PC4-28800, GIGABYTE RTX5080 16GB WF OC 3 FAN running 3440x1440

A couple of days ago, I landed on runway 27L for the very first time because the winds were 290 at 30. What I didn’t know is the there is one of the infamous “cracks” running across the runway. It hit it just after touchdown and it threw the aircraft at least 40 feet back into the air. Fortunately, I had crash detection turned off and was able to recover. I then watched the full Fabio clip and noticed that the upset appeared to happen whenever both his nosewheel was on the ground and he's in cockpit view. Any time he used the drone/external view, the aircraft sat still. It's only when he switched back to the cockpit that the aircraft spun. There were also a few system issues, like GPWS not functioning, that preceded the upset. So whatever the problem was, it only happened in cockpit view with the nosewheel on the ground. I could be wrong, and usually am, but that's what it looked like to me with untrained eyes. Maybe you might see the same thing. Take-offs are optional, landings are mandatory. The only time you have too much fuel is when you're on fire. To make a small fortune in aviation you must start with a large fortune. There's nothing less important than the runway behind you and the altitude above you. It's better to be on the ground wishing you were in the air, than in the air wishing you were on the ground.
April 20, 20224 yr Great stream going on now at https://www.twitch.tv/theflyingfabio, Fabio has on a guest 737 IRL captain (ex-military pilot and current captain at an airliner for over 15 years: https://www.twitch.tv/offscheddescent/about) ... great insights being shared by this guest on 737 ops and Fabio then trying stuff on the PMDG aircraft etc. On way to land in Queenstown NZ on a very interesting RNAV approach. And man oh man the scenery, weather and lighting never fails to amaze in this sim, especially in a place like New Zealand. Some feedback/comments from the IRL 737 pilot guest: - seem to like the aircraft's handling and systems/flight modelling - thinks the wing flex is realistic (https://www.twitch.tv/videos/1461278701?t=03h06m08s) - comments like "game changer" earlier in the stream - and near the end after the landing "this is as good as if not better than PMDG 737-700 in P3D which I consider the yardstick" (https://www.twitch.tv/videos/1461278701?t=03h14m48s) - then later on a PMDG developer joined to answer some Qs, and the guest pilot complimented the aircraft again and said "really impressed by what I'm seeing so far, this looks like a big improvement over the P3D version which was already very good" (https://www.twitch.tv/videos/1461278701?t=03h27m55s) Very informative overall.
