Anyone else got a weird super-rigid feeling for the wingflex animations on the Chewy stream or is it just me?

Hmm it looks to be like this IRL

It does look a bit less "organic" in the PMDG 737, more like only the outer part of the wing was rubber-ish, elastic. But I remember it the same in P3D, so it doesn't really bother me. It is however more apparent on MSFS because of the weird turbulences (mostly mountain waves). A normal P3D flight was much calmer at cruise level, that's why there was much less wing flex to be seen. But as I said, the animation seems pretty much a one-to-one port from P3D.

For transparency: I'm a community mentor at the BATC discord. However, I do not get paid for it in any way.

FPS were ready bad on take off from KLAS, 25 FPS he was saying it was the the area/scenery, but I just did the same take off with the CRJ with FPS locked at 40 and it never droped below, he like me runs a 3080. So FPS have a ? to me.

They're normally matte, some airlines have them polished.

Not only that...but some airlines have mixed (usually by acquiring aircraft from other airlines).

SWA is typically matt....but I think I've run across some shiny ones in the hundreds of pics I've looked at over the years.

This airline, for example....has very polished inlets (in this screenshot I had not done the left engine yet and wanted to show the contrast you can achieve with PBR effects).  This is one of my paints for the "other" 737 in P3d

then the livery painters can make some liveries with shiny inlets.

Why yes....yes they can. 🙂

Is there any discussion on the cartwheel that happened earlier today?

I just joined 5 mins ago, didn't hear anything about it (from what he said on that stream it's an aircraft bug they've seen before that's currently being fixed... and/or could maybe have to do with his add-on airport terrain too)

Cartwheel: Go to message #1 and Fabio twitch link... At 4:40:00 he lands. (the Alaskan flight, not Sao Paulo).

Couple takeaways:

1. Asobo needs to get the clouds much better. The volcanic looking word not allowed with chewwy going into KSAN looked really bad.

2. People are going to go mental when they find out PMDG will not have any Simbrief integration like we got with FSL. PMDG have their GFO vaporware that will release likely years from now. RSR will gloss over this, mark my words.

3. Wingflex way overdone.

On the PMDG forums there's this exchange re: the cartwheel bug that Fabio encountered: https://forum.pmdg.com/forum/main-forum/general-discussion-news-and-announcements/169243-18apr22-pmdg-737-developer-update-kicking-things-off-on-youtube-and-lifting-the-embargo-on-beta-testers-and-streamers?p=169665#post169665

The poster encountered similar issue with other aircraft, and then Rob says:

Quote

Wojtek- Hey- thanks for saying that. One of our betas had it happen repeatedly and it was eventually traced to the platform sneakily re-introducing default control assignments into his customized control setup- or so he believes as of this writing. We have never been able to make it happen in-house in spite of trying and in the other 65 days of testing nobody has seen this happen. If you happen to recall where it happened to you, that would be useful information. We are collecting data on it, because we want to prove it IS our airplane just as much as we want to prove that it ISN'T. One of those answers has to be proven. - RSR

And while I was there saw this other exchange which was noteable, a beta tester's take: https://forum.pmdg.com/forum/main-forum/general-discussion-news-and-announcements/169435-climbing-out-of-ibiza?p=169452#post169452

Both are quite a way ahead of P3D physics, indeed it taxies a lot nicer than it used to in P3D.

I watched the whole Fabio flight (at 2X speed). Soon after the spectacular conflagration on landing, he started a new flight where he had landed (Ketchikan). Starting there, he immediately slew (F key) upwards and then gently slew downwards. As soon as the wheels touched the tarmac the Boeing flipped upside down. Just like it did when he was landing his flight.

I remapped the Slew key to F5. I guess default is Y instead of F. Anyway when he slew up and down the plane flipped. Someone off camera asked him a question and he said it has happened to him at other airports too.

What a waste of time watching this guy stream same issue with his landing "cartwheel" into PAKT than he says its a bug with the plane yet Chewwy did 3 perfect flights with the same aircraft with no issues. He should just stick to GA planes something he was flying in MSFS exclusively for almost 2 years now.

WASM aircraft cannot access the internet from within MSFS to download things like Simbrief flightplans. Until Asobo adds support for external web access in the SDK, this will not be possible (at this time) for any WASM aircraft. You apparently can download a Simbrief flight plan (with a web browser outside the sim), put it in the aircraft’s “work” folder and import it into the FMS. The Aerosoft CRJ has the same limitation when it comes to Simbrief, and the same workaround.

Yet, others who have watched the streams claim there is nowhere near enough wingflex. A matter of opinion I suppose.

Fabio tried an RNP 0.1 approach in Rio de Janeiro. He didn't put the 0.1 performance constraint on the FMC, he started the RF leg with flap 5 and 170kt, totally out of the correct approach procedure, but amazingly the autopilot kept the RNP performance at 0.05 until he turned it off.
