Yes there is an option to disable the sound already, I don't remember but it's there because I have disabled it on my computer.

I cannot find it, could you look at your copy and show us where it is please?

Ah sorry, you are right !

In fact, I had just permanently muted the REX Accuseason app in the Windows Volume mixer, that's why mine isn't playing the sound anymore 😛

You can also simply delete or rename the file "rex_landscapes.wav" which is located in the \Files\Sounds\ subfolder of REX Accuseason.

Automation

Is there any chance you could add a flag when called by command line, something like "-autoquit" perhaps, so that when called via scheduler, for example, Accuseason will load, download the data, and then automatically quit?

Currently, when called via scheduler, it automatically downloads latest data, but then remains open, so I have to click OK and then exit.

There's a way around it. In  the task scheduler, in the trigger tab, I have set to stop the task after a 5 minutes. I think that should be enough time for Rex to finish its job.

Normally I would have set the trigger at logon. That way the task starts every day immediately after login on to the computer.
I figured that it would be uncessary to update the seasonal textures that often so I scheduled it for once a week, using a schedule. There is one caveat with this: if the computer is not running at the time it will miss the schedule. The setting below fixes that but it can take several minutes after the computer has started before the scheduled task runs.

I often check for updates for addons before starting MSFS which should give the task scheduler ample time to run the missed task before I get to launching MSFS.

Although 5 minutes is probably more than enough time for Rex to finish an autoquit option would take away the guesswork so that would be a great option.

There will not be a need for this in the new version.  It will automatically do this.

The new version will auto start in the system tray.  After about 10 minutes it will automatically quit.  This will allow the user time to turn off automation if they want to use AccuSeason manually.

and is there a way to disable the Sounds? Because i have activated it on Logon and always hear birds chirping 😄

The sounds in the new version are disabled initially.  A user can turn them on if they want.

  • 2 weeks later...

I pressed the Restore button to reinstall MSFS default textures and remove Accuseason from the Community Folder, for upcoming SU12 update tomorrow, as per manual. But then the manual does not  say how to get Accuseason textures back into MSFS again. Do I have to completely reinstall it somehow?

Hi Greg. When you are ready to get AccuSeason textures back into the sim, do the following:
1. Make sure the sim is not running
2. Open up AccuSeason install the preset of your choice or if you are using the Automated Seasons enable the Automated Dynamic Seasons feature
3. Start up the sim
4. Start your flight

No need to reinstall the app. Hope that answers your question.

Since this thread has been brought up again, I've got a question: I was flying out of San Jose yesterday and noticed a lot of the plants were purple. I disabled AccuSeason and sure enough, they went back to normal. Is this part of the software? I know when there are missing textures in MSFS, a lot of times it turns them purple.

That's the blooming flowers on trees. I flew out of Oakland yesterday and saw the blooms. They probably should be more pink in color but maybe the purple is more noticeable at altitude.

They are likely Jacaranda trees. They bloom purple in Spring.

Yes, these are the spring floral trees which range in color of white to lavender/purple-ish.

That sounds good but is the 10 minutes configurable? Personally I'd like it to turn off much quicker than that, otherwise I can see myself manually closing it down which semi defeats it's purpose. Thanks

@rstough What I still do not really understand: it is so much focussed on the northern hemisphere, no? If I now select a spring preset, it tells me that this spring preset is used for northern hemisphere and an autumn preset is used for the southern hemisphere. But which one? Should I not be able to also select which autumn preset is used in the southern hemisphere?
