This is Avsim where folks hate new tech like VR and Discord communications and just don't want to let go of their old CRT Monitors and early 2000 era vBulletin message boards.😆🤣😂

Isn't it kinda ironic posting that on a conversation in the FS2020 forum...

There's VR disbelievers on discord as well, I nearly fell off my chair laughing at them in the official discord channel once at their buffoonery on the subject!

Disagree. Discord is one the best things that happened to the internet!

A closed-source proprietary chat application whose conversations cannot be indexed by search engines (and so any information contained within it is invisible to web searches) and that is under the control of a single private company that monitors private conversations and can alter/delete/censor every single thing that was ever posted is the best thing that happened to the internet?

I don't know for how long you've been using the internet, but I would say that virtually any technology that we had before Discord was superior in almost every aspect you can think of (BBS, web-based forums or even IRC).

I wish for a proper Fenix forum or at least a more organized discord, so I can skip the threads I'm not interested in. The FBW discord is a much more pleasant experience than the Fenix' one. I know exactly which threads I would skip in the Fenix discord, if they existed. Performance issues and payment options...

cheers,
NiIs U.

It was kinda a joke as such a traditional forum format is still proven to be suitable, easy to read/navigate and quite effective 20+ years later.

Of course some chose to skip the humor and have it land directly into feelings.

I mean no one is trying to replace nor discredit the glory days of IRCs, MUDs, FUDs phpBBs and multi display fat back CRT flight sim setups. Technology has simply advanced over the decades and I'm quite grateful for such🤣😂

Just looking at the first few pages of the MSFS forum here at AVSIM, it looks like this is a dedicated Fenix forum. It’s getting hard to find a topic not related to the Fenix A320 here at the moment! People clicking into the MSFS forum and then seeing the subject matter of the first few pages will be thinking they mis-clicked and hitting the back button!

At the time of writing this (19.40z) 13 of the first 50 threads are Fenix-related ... "getting hard to find a topic not..." LMAO - try harder.

If you want to get an answer to a question in a few minutes instead of a few days, Discord is the way to go.

My answer rate is 50%. That's no surprise because the ask-us thing is full of questions, and they scroll away like hell. How anybody can find that satisfying is beyond me.

Even worse, I can only use it on one computer. I just tried a second one. Had to click trains and ships twice (is a locomotive a train?). Then confirm my email, and again trains and ships. Then it wanted my telephone number. I avoid it, if possible. On the other computer, I get in the first time. But it is more or less useless. Even Facebook is better.

We're fools to make war on our brothers in arms.

I thought there was already a thread titled "I HATE DISCORD!" where all the people could go and whine about Discord?

Except Discord is basically a reissue of IRC. Now, the same confusing mess it's back with a new name and interface and renewed hype, and those that weren't there in the 90s, assume it's something "new", when it isn't.

It's a CHAT system, not a forum.

Recalling my IRC days, Discord is the same concept but *way* easier to use.

Besides, IRC was a copy too - BBS systems had chat features as well, though if it was a typical BBS, it only had one modem so the chat was only used by the Sysop and whoever happened to be dialed in.  (and people my age will remember that when the Sysop deigned to open a chat with you, it was a BIG deal 😄 )

I don't support a Fenix subforum, but I do think perhaps there should be a collected thread for all Fenix tech support issues and maybe another for operational issues (with the aircraft itself).  Merge all new threads that fall into those categories into the "prime" thread until people get the hint.
