Fenix: please consider a proper forum

My goodness... I tried to keep up to date with everything on Discord but it's UTTERLY IMPOSSIBLE. It's a total mess with hundreds of people asking the same things over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over again. It is simply impossible to properly follow a thread. Am I missing something obvious...? Just now I was reading some posts from yesterday and accidently hit a wrong button so I ended up at the end of the list and it's almost impossible to get back to where I was. But that doesn't really matter because trying to read everything is genuinly giving me a headache. How can ANYBODY follow what's being said over there...?! I just don't get it. Why o why do developers choose Discord as their main means of communications with customers? It totally sucks. Big time. I can't post on Discord because I don't want to share my phone number but honestly I don't care anymore because it's utterly useless. I see lots of questions I know the answer to but what use would it be to post it there because it will get lost anyway. It also seems NO ONE IS READING what's being posted because a lot of times already I read a question, I read the answer a few lines below it and a few lines below that someone else asked the very same question. And that's happening all the time. What a mess.

PLEASE Fenix, consider creating an old fashioned forum where you can actually follow what's being said. Discord is one of the worst things that ever happened to internet.

Discord looks like a complete mess to me. It has no logic to it. Or am I doing it wrong....  Is this what the young people are using now?

Agreed. It's a total disaster. I hate it too.

Discord is no different to IRC back in the 1990s, surprised at the hate it receives. Yes it's different to a forum, but forums themselves have flaws, nothing is perfect.

+1. This aircraft is a bit dead on arrival for me.

There is a huge screen refresh rate problem for certain users. Like 1-2 fps without any cure for this right now. Pfd, nd, engine display all of these no matter what rendering option chosen in the app, the displays lag all over the place without noticing sim lag.

Submitted a ticket for this, now waiting for a response. But a forum would ne a nice addition too.

Why you posted this here?

Because Fenix might read it here. 😉

Does anyone have a link to the Discord? I can't find anywhere to join it, unless it's only for Devs.

Disagree. Discord is one the best things that happened to the internet!

Although I do agree that Fenix should have a proper forum because Discord is not a forum replacement nor was it trying to be nor should it be. While it does have a feature called "Threads" which as the name suggests can allow users to type under a certain topic within a channel. However it doesn't get used properly and it just ends up turning into a mini text channel again. But Fenix don't employ that feature in their server anyway so I do not know why I brought it up LOL!

Use the search tool in Discord, and watch the announcements.

Also use the ask-us chat and you usually get an answer in a minute or two.

Discord is not perfect but I think it is quite good. You just have to learn how to use it.

I have had good luck finding answers there quickly, both by searching and by asking.

You will go crazy if you just try to follow the main fenix-chat, or other model chats like that.

Like any tool you have to figure out how best to use it.

Any Forum or chat will drive you crazy if you let it.

It'll eventually settle down once Fenix finishes triaging the most pressing launch issues that are preventing some people from using it. But it probably would be beneficial to split it up between a user-to-user support channel and general chat.

Discord is AMAZING! I use it for my own iFlySimX server and as a regular user and I love it. With that said, it is NOT meant to replace a forum. I really think that Fenix needs to get a forum because their Discord is becoming a total disaster. Way too many people just blasting questions away, with a lot of questions left unanswered. Just my opinion 🙂

If you want to get an answer to a question in a few minutes instead of a few days, Discord is the way to go.
