Might be more productive to go on the Fenix Discord page with all your ideas and see what they think about them.

The discord page is pretty useless, its like trying to listen to a hundred people all talking at the same time. I don't understand why they won't move to a proper forum.

Trim adjustment is available once you have hydraulic pressure. 😉

LOL Thanks! You got that right! This Fenix is something else! 😉

I have to say that I a surprised at how well this Fenix Airbus performs...! With the FBW I got a stutter every 30 seconds or so, often posted about it, I don't have that with the Fenix! It's great!

One odd thing though: I am doing my second flight right now and just like during my first flight the PFD shows DECELERATE during cruise all the time... Why's that? Mach is .78. Speeds look right. But DECELERATE all the time....?

in the Fenix? Where is that? Just see random failures and high/low failure options but no MTBF?

The "realistic - ON" setting is supposed to represent MTBF. Quoting the blog at Fenixsim.com/blog : "Finally, we heard a lot of you back when we first went out with marketing saying that this level of failure simulation is pointless to some, if you have to trigger it, and the fun is in operating the aircraft per reality with a chance for something to fail.

You were right. So we built it. The aircraft now features Mean-Time-Between-Failures modeling, meaning engineering data is used to determine rough failure rates and apply that probability to your flight. Since some expressed concern, we also made it a little more accessible and fun for those of you that want to dip your toes in - and you can choose a myriad of configurations, such as failing only items that will allow you to continue to your end destination, or failing any component including major ones. Would you like a realistic failure rate using the data, or would you prefer an expedited version where things have a higher probability of happening because reality is boring? Or, you know, nothing at all because you’re on VATSIM and having both engines explode (we promise that won’t happen) is mildly inconvenient. Whatever combination, there’s an option to suit."

Take-offs are optional, landings are mandatory.
The only time you have too much fuel is when you're on fire.
To make a small fortune in aviation you must start with a large fortune.

There's nothing less important than the runway behind you and the altitude above you.
It's better to be on the ground wishing you were in the air, than in the air wishing you were on the ground.

Decelerate advisory is usually linked to Top of Descent calculation. Did you select the STAR and arrival procedure for your destination already in the MCDU? If so, well, it means you have to... decelerate (ad start your descent) so as not to miss your target.

All nice and well with the Fenix, and I'm a huge fan, but I will say this for the FBW : I am missing the cabin and crew sounds, and I am definitely missing the amazing physics they implemented on all the control surfaces and cargo doors. The way they shake when they hit the travel stops when opening or how the wobble going down as the struts release pressure is just something to behold. Makes the same thing feel a bit dead and fake in the Fenix.

Having said that, I haven't really touched the FBW since Fenix came out as I am enjoying it immensely. But once the FBW is actually completed I think it might surpass the Fenix.

Got it. Realistic is already set under failure rate. So I still need to set failure type to anything but NONE, right? Like MINOR for beginners?

Exactly. My first failure I got this way was one of the icing probes failing. Nothing that I would call maintenance on in the current summer weather. 😉

FS Realitic will give you cabin and crew sounds plus a host of other great sounds that you can tailor to your liking.

The Fenix Discord page has a section called "Support Threads". This is where people post problems they are running into and very often, the Developer responds to those problems within a few hours. The chat section is where you have a hundred people talking, this doesn't happen on the Support Threads section.

The only bug I have found in the new update, which I reported to Fenix, is the Units page in the EFB where you select either pounds or Kilograms, doesn't save KG any more . If you set it to KG, it reverts back to Lbs, and soon as you exit the menu.

Hi,

I wonder why windows protection wants to prevent me from installing this file ...

I wonder why the antivirus finds the Trojan in the Fenix.exe file ...

I wonder why Fenix websites use so much CPU power (Firefox) ...

I'm just wondering ...

Agree. I've asked several questions there, but after a few seconds my question is drowned in hundreds of other comments. If there's not a person that happens to know the answer to my question around the time I ask it, it's lost. Buried deep in the endless Discord chatter. It's all up to coincidence it seems. So I guess Discord is good for something... I got a notification that the Fenix was ready for sale on my iPad and bought it a few minutes later. But certainly not as a forum replacement.

EDIT: Okay I did exaggerate a bit; there's not so much activity in the #ask-us section, but still it doesn't take that long for a post to be buried.

This happens every once in a while with 3rd party payware. Don't worry, my Windows defender detected nothing. Also Fenix would be legally liable for any damage to your PC if they distributed a file with a virus, so you are on the safe side anyway.

For transparency: I'm a community mentor at the BATC discord. However, I do not get paid for it in any way.

Happened to me after the update, it reset the Fenix options. I switched them back, but had to press "save as default" for each option category.
