I do use the MSFS standard rolling cache and it works perfectly with the mod. You just need to remember to delete it (from the MSFS General Option/Data menu) when you switch between Bing/Google. I did not have any issue. However, maybe there is a leak I did not see since I have a good amount of RAM. I will monitor it next time I will play to see if I detect somewhing.

Do you have to do this in MSFS first, then log off, run the mod then go back into MSFS?  Or can you run the mod, go into MSFS and delete rolling cache?  I assume i delete rolling cache but keep it on?

LOD 200

I didn't try higher values, yet.

Greetings

You cant go back to default Bing without exiting the sim and hitting the Stop Mod button first.

That's very important! If you forget to hit the Stop Mod button before you shut down MSFS, the next MSFS session loads in offline mode (if you don't run the Google mod again).

Here is the simplw way to do it (if you switch from Bing to Google)

1. Start the mod application

2. Click "Start Flying". It will start MSFS automatically.

3. Go in the MSFS option, clear the cache

4. Start your flight.

That simple.

Obviously, next time you play, if you stick to google maps, don't kill the cache. Simply start the mod and click "Start Flying"

I use 200 too, but there is an option within the app to use High Lod, I think it load 4 images and then merge them down to one 512*512 image instead of a standard 256*256.

Yes, but I haven't tried yet.

Perhaps later (after the "mysterious" World Update X?).

I do, it looks sharper in many areas. But for some reason I do not see any differences in other. I guess that google do not have high res pictures everywhere.

Is there a transfer limit regarding Google?

Yesterday with High-Resolution option i transfered 1.5 GB in 2 hours

A nice feature would be to load the tiles into cache, before even starting the sim, according to the Flightplan

I have to say most of the time it looks really good.

Some areas in Bing are very good also. Mostly though either 'Bing Latest' maps or 'Google Maps' are better.

My problem seems to have to do with bad maps, when I look at those that are loaded in they have different color tints, and some are half winter and half summer, apparently they are very old and bad maps in the areas where I have seen problems, my memory usage seems normal, the area i have seen problems are norwegian and swedish mountain areas.

After about 1 hour of flight I start to get missing terrain and pop ups when I use High Lod, probably I do not have enough Vram (11gb) for use the High Lod option.

Not happening here, only 8Gb vram on my card.  Using no caches.

Even using high lod mode it uses the same or less vram than default.

EDIT. Just seen your last post.  Yes, Google has quite a bit of of that in more out of the way places. Even had a bit of that in Northen California yesterday...  tiles that look like they were taken in a drought next to tiles taken in lush green spring.

Still, it's not enough to ruin my day 😉 The advantages of this mod still outweigh running default for me, despite these anomalies.

With this mod.- Advanced Bing = Odd brown squares. Google maps = Distant tiles not loading at 30000ft and not much difference at low altitudes. Back to Asobo Bing for me.

Google maps are loads better than Bing at low altitudes. Granted there are some Bing areas that are very good, but mostly There is no comparison.

You mention you can see textures loading in the distance so I think something maybe blocking the mod. I can fly for hours without ever seeing textures load.

Plenty of images have been posted showing the quality of the Google textures, so rather than give up, maybe follow some of the advice given here and by the developer to find a conflicting app.

Bings new maps have a more realistic color tint than google in Scandinavia where I fly, and they are much better than the old ones Asobo use, why doesn't Asobo use the new maps?
