Aerosoft CRJ current thoughts

Featured Replies

It's OK! It really is OK...nothing more, I enjoyed it for what it is, but deleted it once the PMDG NG came out and the Fenix A320. Money better spent by a mile.

Aerosoft......there..."suport" and mods.....these words are well into the "words not allowed" on these forums.

I try my very best to not give them a penny unless there the only vendor for an airport I want.

I'd rather go on a date with the OMSI grandma than buy a plane from Aerosoft.

It's great--I love it and fly it nearly every day.  Follows LNAV as it's supposed to though some can't seem to figure out why they can't get it to cooperate.   I have exactly zero issues with it.  Hand flies exceptionally well and while a few systems my not be modeled all the matter to me do.  I do agree w/ some sentiments here towards Aerosoft but it doesn't need support at the moment anyway as it works as it should already, now, after the recent hotfix post update.  JRBarrett knows the plane very well so if you have serious questions still touch base with him.

The duplicating waypoints in the FMS has been there since day 0.

Never seen this in a 100 flights--but I input waypoints manually off the NavLog.

Yes Noel, we know you have no clue how the real thing is supposed to work and that you have developed your own procedures that work around all the issues so you never see them and they do not exist in your reality.

I am still very happy for you that you enjoy it so much, but one needs to only look at the amount of unanswered bug report threads in their support forums to know that you are just full of it and quickly becoming one of the aforementioned 'yaysayers'.

Yes as I've stated I have no clue how the real CJR works but it works largely just like the PMDG birds did, the Majestic Q400, and multiple others do....for me.   When you say I'm "full of it" you're missing the fact I'm not lying I'm reporting my experience with the CRJ.  I never said Aerosoft's support was good or bad so this last comment is nonsense, "one needs to only look at the amount of unanswered bug report threads in their support forums to know that you are just full of it..."  I do IFR routes out of the MSFS World Map, input my own waypoints and all's working predictably and well.  I don't overshoot turns, the plane reliably locks on to the LOC and GS's, as well as any other plane I've used.   Many others speak highly of the plane noting some of its shortcomings but ultimately finding it satisfactory at a minimum.  Sorry for you you can't make it work for yourself.

There are a few glitches in the fms when inputting a route but it only takes a few clicks to tidy it up. Where things get messy is if there are route changes midflight such as different stars or approaches than planned. Work around is change to heading mode while cleaning that mess up in the fms.

I have seen some strange behavior in climb not hitting the right ias values or oscillating, but only on occasion. Might be caused by weather or high payloads near capacity. This can be cleaned up by switching to pitch mode usually.

I think people depend too much on AP modes and don’t know how to fly the blasted thing when things don’t go as planned. This can happen on any plane, even ones with few glitches.

It can overshoot intercepts on occasion. In fact there are a few it will overshoot every time. It’s an annoyance but again can be corrected by actually flying the plane.

What I saw in P3D was the plane would practically get lost and start doing loops in the complete wrong direction spectacularly. I have not ever seen this happen in msfs. That was so bad that it took a lot of intervention to fix and would make you look like a fool on VATSIM or anything like that.

I think I'll pass - sounds horrendous.  I'll stay with the excellent Just Flight BAe146 where actually flying the plane is part of normal procedure.

OK how do I delete the CRJ (or uninstall it) as well as some other aircraft that I now had too many of ??

Go to Content Manager. Uninstall CRJ.

Laminar Research customer -- Asobo/MS customer -- not an X-Aviation customer - or am I? 😉

Summary of thread for those that have not read it:

The attitude of the devs has offended the sensibilities of a few delicate people who have taken offense, therefore the aircraft itself must logically be just utter rubbish and should be avoided.

We now have quite a few developers, especially on the main forums, including Aeroplane Heaven, Simworks with the Kodiak, Golden Age, Milviz, Aerosoft, Orbx and Aerosoft (originally with the Twin Otter but the complaints have moved to the CRJ as well) where it is not possible to have any sort of thread discussing the actual products without a batch of people jumping in and complaining about being mistreated by the devs.  Even Just Flight are copping it lately.

The annoying thing is people are not creating their own threads to air their grievances they simple parse the forums and jump into any unrelated thread to voice their discontent. It is very annoying.

There are genuine issues with the CRJ that could be discussed, along with work arounds along with what sort of things it is and is not suitable for in it's current version,  but that is not happening.

This thread should be locked as the original title has become misleading.  It is no longer about the CRJ it is about peoples personal issues with Aerosoft.

Well that's a weird kneejerk post. The developers / the support is as much a part of the product experience as the product itself. This smells like an attempt to get some bad PR closed down and removed.

How do you think will locking the thread lead to the discussion you want to see?

The OP asked if it's worth buying the CRJ. How can the (non-)support of the developer, Aerosoft, be off-topic in regards to that question? As to a purchasing decision it's a night and day difference between "The CRJ has major flaws, but the dev is known for fixing this really quick and thorough, so go ahead and buy it" and "The CRJ has major flaws, and don't expect them to get fixed ever".

And to top it off you demand locking the thread, you've got some nerves.

For transparency: I'm a community mentor at the BATC discord. However, I do not get paid for it in any way.

The naysayers love you for supporting their view of the plane and deeming it "horrendous".  Would it help if I recorded a high quality video to demonstrate exactly how the CJR....follows LNAV waypoints as expected, how one can alter the route in midflight by inputting new waypoints etc, how the plane perfectly follows IAS mode (does not have autothrottle capabilities)?  I bought the plane to fulfill needs for a regional jet in APLv2 and it functions very well in this role.  I love the fact it doesn't fly itself and keeps me focused when I need to be.  I've flown all the major birds in simulations for going on 30y now and while AS CRJ isn't perfect it does what it's supposed to and if and when it doesn't (likely because the user did not clean up the FMS route correctly) it's very easy to fix in mid flight.
