Aerosoft CRJ current thoughts

Featured Replies

I purchased my very first FS2Crew addon for the Leonardo Maddog and have enjoyed the combo immensely.  I see FS2Crew have an addon for the Aerosoft CRJ series so I am considering purchasing the two.  What are your latest views on how good the CRJ is?  I mostly fly the Just Flight Bae 146 and Maddog - is the CRJ anywhere near these two?

No, not for systems depth or bugfree-ness. Gave the CRJ another try last week and even after the latest patch I got my approach doubled/cloned when I changed the STAR during descent. I had to ragequit Vatsim when the CRJ started to fly in circles during initial approach while I was busy talking to ATC.

For transparency: I'm a community mentor at the BATC discord. However, I do not get paid for it in any way.

I had just noticed that the CRJ was 25% off on Orbx's FlyJuly sale and was thinking about grabbing it but this feedback has made me pause. Maybe it's still too soon.

Stay away from Aerosoft addon aircraft. (and many of the old, ported sceneries)

Just my thoughts

Last time I flew the CRJ, when turning on the AP, it would just constantly just pitch up hard. Couldn't figure out what was going on and had to end the flight. Haven't flown it since.

Please don't buy the CRJ, aircraft is lacking and support is laughable with a bad attitude. If you need something smaller look into the Honda Jet for around 25$ on the MP, or WT CJ4 which will cost you nothing. If they don't appeal to you just stick to the 146 and the MD82 for the moment.

I agree with the above. Why faff around with the CRJ when there are other options? I uninstalled the CRJ after the last update. Why bother when you can fly the Fenix etc?

Same here. And last time I flew it before that was about a year ago and I remember there was some deal breaking issue too. So no OP don't get it.

It was nice when there was nothing else but now there's nothing to it anymore really due to its flaws.

I agree with everyone's comments, the graphics are awesome and if someone wants to familiarize themselves with the layout or learn the FMS it's ok, but the moment you try flying it, the FD has a mind of its own (on approaches), NAV has issues, and the list goes on. I gave up going on Aerosoft forums, their attitude is not the best...

I bought it on sale for 35 USD.  Mainly to let my friend tinker with it (on my PC when he visits) because he used to fly the real thing.  He was impressed with it for starting up from cold and dark but otherwise we both noticed how poorly it tracked the course especially during turns, and how it did not stay on the localizer very well.

I rarely fly it now that the PMDG is out (don't fly that much either as I'm mostly a GA guy).  If you can find it sale I'd go for it.  It does have some lateral autopilot issues though.

What a pity that the CRJ is in a so lamentable state, it was in my list for purchase too. Thanks to all comments.

It’s decent, but not decent enough for me to fly it after a bunch of other airliners were released.  The JF Bae-146 is currently by far the best regional jet available.

Wow, thanks for saving me from a bad purchase everybody!  I assumed after all this time it would be fixed and a good option.

Unfortunately not the case. They seem to focus on other topics and the recent hotfix did not really address the biggest issues already mentioned in various if not all posts above.

Can only echo and confirm all the previous remarks. There are several very long-standing issues still open (some since release, so coming up on a year and a half soon). Developer communication is severely lacking. It seemed to improve a little bit recently when there was finally an update again after a loooooong time without any updates. But now it is a bit quiet again on their support forums, with bug reports going unanswered and no clue what they are working on.
