August 7, 20223 yr I use the default ATC and I am pretty satisfied with it 🙂 7800X3D | 2x32 GB DDR5-6000 CL32 | RTX 5080 | Alienware OLED 34" | 1 Gbps fiber
August 7, 20223 yr For those of you using default ATC, what is stopping you from using something like Pilot2ATC… Cost? Complexity? Don’t care about accuracy/immersion?
August 8, 20223 yr I am using LiveAtc, together with PSXT + RealTraffic + AIG , but that option is missing in this poll. Edited August 8, 20223 yr by kiek
August 8, 20223 yr Default ATC for aural immersion. As soon as ATC gives me grief or ghibberish, I cancel my flight plan and use my charts (which I do anyway, pretty much from taxi to shutdown).

There's nothing more realistic-sounding than the real thing. LiveATC or Stick and Rudder Studios' FS-ATC-Chatter all the way for me. Don’t care about accuracy/immersion? None of the above! There is simply (at this time) no really 100% accurate ATC software on the market anyway (I used a number of them with P3D and FSX: PF3 RC4, Pro ATC, and VoxATC), and, in addition, ALL of them are made of the same unpleasant component: a "cut and paste" assemblage of voices and sentences that sound so bizarre (listen to a radio frequency spelt out and you will understand what I mean) that I invariably switched back to the default FSX, P3D and MSFS ATC - however imperfect they may be - simply because at the very least, the limited number of voices available sound natural! Don’t care about accuracy/immersion? Nothing stopping me really, but I am quite OK with the default ATC for my casual flying, so I don't see a need for another program to manage that part. I combine it with FS ATC Chatter which gives an extra layer of immersion for me with contextual chatter sampled from LiveATC.

Every other Software can't control AI traffic and that is a deal breaker for me. Apart from that they are old and ugly and clunky... so no alternative really.

Old, ugly, clunky and not controlling/interfacing with AI is why I stuck with default for so long. FSHud is new, not ugly and does control AI. There are some issues to be sure. But, I have found the developers to be very responsive and this may be the future of "non-live" ATC for MSFS. We'll see. From Radar Contact up to Pilot2ATC, I probably have used them all over the years. All are good in their way and meet the needs of many. I want something simple to use, as realistic as possible that controls AI and that doesn't look like it was developed in 1989. For me, as of now, that means either default or FSHud. Default has so many of the basics in place but is mostly a carry-over from FSX like not letting you respond to an instruction before they go on to the next flight. If they would fix some of these kinds of things, default would be so much more usable. Until that happens (and I'm not expecting it), I'm willing to work with FSHud to see where they take the program in the months to come. August 8, 20223 yr The bipolar nature of this forum is fascinating. I’ve participated-in and started a few threads on ATC lately, and came away with two impressions… 1. That no one uses the default ATC and… 2. That most people don’t feel Asobo needs to spend any resources on improving the default ATC because it’s adequately covered by third-party add-ons. LOL.
