so what i tried is after ground service finished i clicked "restart couatl" and then continued with taxiing, flight and landing and had no CTD (1st time).

Will try more flight tomorrow to, hopefully, confirm that this helps

Not everyone getting these crashes is using GSX.

My CTDs yesterday were the first CTDs in a long time. They happened approx. 10-15 after loading into the airplane during engine startup or shortly there after on a flight I've done dozens of times. SU9, Win 10, Steam version, no GSX, no map mod.

Later yesterday I completed a flight with no CTD, but ATC did switch to the none Azure voices about 10 minutes before arrival.

I think the issue I had is server side and not local, though I can't speak for everyone else.

I flew over 100 legs on a world tour with the H145 in the last few months without any problems. The helicopter reacts very sensitively to weather changes in flight and are well recognizable for the flusi pilot. These weather jumps, associated with significant stalling of the flight, were very noticeable on the last flights just before the CDT's. I suspect a systemic error on at least the eropean server. Since I don't use GSX Pro yet and if I interpret the many word messages here and in the Microsoft forum correctly, it will probably be a very unfortunate coincidence between GSX release and the possibly server problem. The good news is that Microsoft is aware of the irritation and will hopefully fix the problem in the next week.

I'm now wondering whether my CTDs are something to do with the region. I've tried the default Baron up the centre of the UK for two hours without a problem. After that, going back to Australia and flying up the coast of Queensland from Brisbane, I've had my fourth CTD of the day in that area. For reference, Steam version of the sim, and real weather turned on.

Surely not everybody was kung fu fighting.

Not actively yet, as the admin also pointed out that no one at Microsoft or Asobo works on a weekend.

Sure.  They have just acknowledged it and issued the usual form / request for information, for people suffering from the CTD.  They should have enough data for tomorrow then when hopefully they can get straight on to it.

Right now it is impossible for me to start MSFS. Always CTD during half of the loading screen.

First time it was the memory error, now, it is without any error window.

I disabled all addons in the community folder

Got now 10 CTDS in a row and give up for today

In my case my exe.xml was faulty.

Fiddled around with encoding (but forgot about it)

Changed the exe.xml now and everything is fine.

Sure Paul.  The thread is on fire at the moment so it is definitely a real problem.

Good luck and make yourself some tea first - it has become a long thread quite quickly!

Just beat you to it!    I have put Paul in at the start of the thread on my link though - only 574 posts to go through - and the thread has only been open two days!

@Paul K  Sorry Paul, the acknowledgement from Jayne Ivana (MS forum moderator) is in there somewhere - in today's posts I think.

Yeah I stopped following that thread, was getting a bit time-consuming, lol. Just had a popup window with the “memory could not be read” message. But the sim was still working. So I was able to complete the flight with no further issues.

I was in Europe servers always automatically, and I tried in the Asia etc. only manually, and I had the same error.

"Summarizing all the data I’ve collected from this thread so far:

This specific CTD is only affecting PC players (both MS Store and Steam). Xbox and Xbox Cloud Gaming players are NOT impacted.
Only some, not all, PC players are getting this CTD.
This specific CTD starting occurring on or about Friday, August 19.
It is affecting players with both Nvidia and AMD GPUs. Driver version does not seem to matter.
It is affecting players on both the SU9 live build and the SU10 beta build.
It is affecting players on both Windows 10 and Windows 11.
It is possibly (unconfirmed) related to online services such as Live Weather, Live Traffic, and Azure terrain caching.
Based on the above, my personal best guess at this time is that it is indeed a change unrelated to the MSFS code or servers (I’m not making a definitive statement here; I could very well be wrong about this). The suggestion that it could be caused by an update to Windows (and/or Windows Defender) makes a lot of sense to me. It’s a good working theory that when flightsimulator.exe requests online data (such as live weather, live traffic, etc.), Windows Defender is somehow interpreting this as a security threat and terminates the application. That would explain why @GeomitraLNG1987 does not get a CTD when flying over the UK (that terrain is already cached locally) but does get a CTD when flying over Australia (non-cached terrain is being requested from Azure).

As I mentioned in an earlier post, I flew for over four hours yesterday trying to replicate this crash with and without live weather enabled, but my sim was perfectly stable the entire time. I noticed today that I have two uninstalled Windows Updates (see screen capture below) that will be installed the next time I restart my PC. If I reboot and install these updates, will I start getting this CTD?"
