So you really really like Milviz's 310?

Yup. Not anything any sane person would try in real life.

I think @Mike62 is onto something though. One thing is getting bits of trees in the propellers and engine intakes. Definitely not good. But I had crash damage off. In a different case, with no trees e.g. in the desert, same runway length. Would I overstress the engines even though I might run out of runway? I mean, normal takeoff is max MP and prop, right? Then reduce to climb performance once obstacles are cleared?

As a former FSX/P3D user of the Milviz C310, I'm really enjoying the MSFS C310 version using the G530/G430 combo with no complaints. I also use the Realsimgear G530/G430 hardware so not likely to upgrade to GTN anytime soon. I just finished a flight from  O88 (Rio Vista, CA) to KFLX (Fallon Muni, NV). Fuel burn including taxi and cruise was 31 gallon vice 28.1 from Fltpln.com. Performance numbers right on the mark. The thing is a beast but a beautiful beast.

And I'm sure you'll be happy for the WT GNS refresh.  I can't wait for it!!

@Mike62 This could very well be it. I can't remember all the times I've forgotten to close the door / storm window (is that what it's called?) just when I quickly want to get up in the air. IIRC the Milviz saves the aircraft state, and I usually end my flights with the door open.

Pilots have died  ( as well  as their passengers) forgetting to lock the door, on takeoff, door pops open, they try and close the door, lose control of the aircraft and crash. My CFI, prior to my solo, popped the door open to see if I would stop flying the plane.

I hate it when they do that 🙂 Hopefully you remembered the mantra: aviate-navigate-communicate. Not sure where "close that word not allowed door!" is on that list.

Call it the power of suggestion on my subconsious mind, but ever since @Bert Pieke mentioned how he found the DA62 cockpit made him feel constrained

So I guess neither of you would enjoy driving my 911, LOL!

Agree that GA-wise, the 310 is best one out at this time and the price is really good for what you get AND they (Blackbird) are having a flash 30% off sale TODAY! There is an SP1 update coming soon which addresses the below. If you get it through their website, you can download the SP1 beta from their forums.

1. The flight model on landing has been adjusted slightly so that there's a bit
more lift on the flare and the struts are a little more flexible. This will
affect your landings slightly, making the "drop and stick" effect less severe
but it is still there and authentic to the 310's unique characteristics.

2. The elevator trim indicator is now positioned more realistically so that the
neutral (0.0) position is towards the bottom of the takeoff range, not the top of
that range. You may want to visually check its position and keep in mind
that the previous "normal" setting at the top (back) of the white takeoff marker
is now more towards the center of the white range.

3. There is a known problem with the right-hand alternator circuit breaker. Due
to an internal MSFS bug the right breaker control affects the left actual breaker.
We're unable to fix this until the sim bug is fixed. We've removed the possibility
that the right breaker can pop due to a failue, and will restore that failure
functionality once this sim bug is fixed.

I believe they are also adding a VOR2 indicator - a welcomed addition for IFR flyers.

This is the one thing that currently feels unrealistic to me with the 310 - the fact that it drops like a stone onto the runway when you cut the throttle, and then stays glued to it as if it was a giant magnet. I've heard others mention that this is how the real aircraft behaves, but it's hard to believe the effect is that drastic - I feel sorry for the IRL pilots spines and tail bones if that's the case.

Glad to see they are tweaking this while retaining the underlying character trait - and agree that it is a great product.

@enrightthis is fixed - I've been beta testing SP1 for a while.  It's true you still need to carry some power though.  I was on the devs for making it stall well before end of the white arc but the pilots on the team say the landing characteristics are tricky and extra power is required.  Most guys wouldn't go below blue line until short final.  That was a lot faster than I thought.

That would be cool! I only fly the C310 with the old school radio stack, no GPS, and I navigate using VOR/NDB only. A second VOR would be great for easier triangulation!

The way the plane immediately loses forward momentum and drops seems to defy the laws of physics - BUT I'm sure it's tough as a developer to balance realism vs. the expectations of people like me that don't own a 310 IRL.

BTW - Did the IRL pilots mention what power / prop settings they used when crossing the threshold?

Looking forward to the update and thanks for helping them tweak it...
