Stutters when about to land

Featured Replies

Has anyone noticed that when about ready to flare ( I am flying the Fenix A 320)  on about 5% of approaches, I get severe stuttering, making a smooth flaring almost impossible. It reminds me of the old days ot FSX and P3D. I am wondering if this is a problem with the servers, since I am locked to 30 FPS and have no fps issues during the entire flight, except on these rare occasions on landing.

I've often wondered at what point does the server shifts from the ground scenery to the in flight scenery.  Could be this transition is causing a slight delay and stutters.

I've had it on the other side after taking off, then the stutter or CTD.  Just guessing???

It's happened to me too.  Beyond annoying.

Can be a symptom of having your settings a bit too high when using addon scenery, planes, airports, etc. These can just overload your system a little.

Yeah, but would think that all the airport scenery has already finished loading at that stage.

it is not. Basically, it seems to me there is some line of code that goes into a infinity while loop and just clogs the mainthread. Your fps will go down very drastically and never recover, if you reload the aircraft at the gate, your fps will go back to normal. So there is a process during landing on final that causes the FPS drop.

I think you are right that something is happening at that point.  I remember FSX having a similar issue.  If your settings are close to the edge, then it just tips you over.  It does seem worse at  more detailed airports.

If it still occurs at lower settings, then that might not be the case, but my experience suggests that it may be what is happening.

History seems repeating itself after all these years.

Backwards GSX loading (option to call stands etc at 10000 feet below), scenery , PMDG sounds (later preload sounds before landing option in FMC) could all contribute to this dislike and immersion killer event.

This existed in MSFS long before GSX. Also GSX loads no additional vehicles until you actually choose a gate - which most people do AFTER landing. So there's no FPS impact with GSX except when entering, standing on or leaving the gate; certainly not in the air.
Oh and Bob does not have GSX, so much for your theory.

For transparency: I'm a community mentor at the BATC discord. However, I do not get paid for it in any way.

Are you running with Photogrametry on? Also what is your TLOD set at ?

Does it only happen at some airports - that seems to be my experience.

The short time I used GSX (almost exclusively with the PMDG 737) before uninstalling it I never saw any kind of stutter, slowdown, cpu spikes...ever.
