Latest GSX update for P3D

Featured Replies

I haven't installed it myself, but I'm seeing a lot of complaints - FSDT says it's because users are stupid (my polite and short interpretation). Looks like Umberto in his normal stage of arrogance/denial,

A have a few questions through.

1) Does it finally work without crashing sim/scenarios?

2) Did they destroy FSLabs config or not?

3) Do I have to fully uninstall and then reinstall with Live Update applied afterward.

4) Is it worth to update for P3D at all?

Thanks

While the most pressing issues were fixed, it’s still a significant regression for P3D. And I’m pretty sure FSDT is abandoning it as there’s barely any replies in the support forum to issues raised. So, I’d stay away from updating for as long as possible.

Agree. I have chosen the path on non-updating as well. At least for now

Had to laugh at this..........

I gave up on GSX a few years back, got tired of everything being my fault, even ridiculed the way I had setup my drives/partitions etc..

As for that dreadful 'Coualt' environment ........

I updated, noticed some improved textures but now have this weird audible announcement of everything GSX is doing which is probably just a setting I need to turn off but other than that I haven't found anything broken "yet"  All of my flights in P3D with GSX have been as expected although now that I type this out loud GSX has been "dropping" the QW 787 with a violent "thump" when pushback completes. Could need to reset something as I remember this way back when...

Updated yesterday late evening.

This morning a short flight, no problems at all, as usually

Peter

P3Dv4.5

A rarity for me I did the update and had a hard crash.  Ended up having to reinstall P3d.

My sim (P3Dv5.3) was running flawlessly prior to the update, then it changed completely after the update for the worse,i was experiencing numerous CTD,GSX was all over the place,i uninstalled it along with Level 2,now the sim is back to running great again,no more CTD,im a little dubious to say the least to reinstall it,ive just been using SODE jetways with UGCx and im quite happy with that until we P3D users get comfimation that is it running the same as it was prior to the disastrous update, could be waiting a while for that i think.

"It surely cannot be GSX".....sound familiar ? ☺️

Unfortunately I did update because I was having a problem with a SODE jetway thinking it was GSX.

A couple of things I noticed different is the audible announcement which can not be disable. Supposedly it will be an option in a future update.

The pushback process I think has been changed. I now see a ramp guy inserting the by-pass pin in the nose gear which I don;t remember seeing it before (not sure).

You get clearance to release brakes  even though the pushback tractor still not attached to the airplane. Upon releasing the brakes you inmediately get a warning to set the brakes.

I was seeing some distorted Marshall readout numbers on the screen but haven't seen it again since last update (yesterday).

I still see the marshall numbers readout being distorted. Don't know what is going on here.

Hi folks,

Just a quick run down on the issues mentioned above with GSX:

  • First - disapearing SODE jetways in P3D - should be resolved now.
  • Custom GSX .ini file configs- issues with configs being saved. Not sure what the status of these issues are.
  • Fuel truck in wrong position- driving to right hand side of aircraft. Resolved.
  • The weird, distorted floating text - In my P3Dv5.3 sim I see that text briefly for a microsecond at the departure gate, but then disappears. When I arrive at my destination, floating text is present again- being looked into by Umberto & team. Work-around is to de-select the Marshaller option in GSX.
  • The weird voices - this came as a result of the latest GSX update - Umberto mentioned they are working on adding an option to disable the voice commentary of what GSX is doing. I believe this option was added to MSFS version and got added to P3D at the same time.
  • The pushback sequence has been updated - changed sequence as it relates to pin insertion and tug connection.
  • The QW787 cockpit "thump" is being looked into, at least for the std pushback tug with towbar where this is observed

This is not an exhaustive list, but the issues that I am aware of that I have seen in my sim too.

My recomendation is to hold off on any GSX updates until there are more improvements and stability.

For those that can not fly without GSX, it is basically functional again and I have been able to complete a flight albeit with some strange going-ons that I can live with for now.

I hope that helps!

I have avoided the GSX update so far, but I was planning on reinstalling some of the FSDT airports I have.  If install any airports from FSDT, it's going to update my GSX automatically as well, right?

If that's the case I will hold off on installing them until the GSX issues are fixed.

Thanks

Correct. Absolutely hold off updating the FSDT airports as the updater works through all of your installed products.

There is a workaround, but with all the assets that GSX uses in various folders, it would quickly get messy.
