Checking DX12 with Studio Driver.

1.Ultra good & smooth performance

2. VRam went to 13gb

3.Better Multicore process.

While waiting the Game driver i will stay with Studio and make some flights.

Well, so far, rather disappointing. SU10 update went in ok, no problems at all. I got the new Nvidia driver and that went in ok - did that first before SU10 and it was fine with SU9, and seems to work fine with SU10.

But no benefits that I can see so far. In fact, my frame rates have dropped a bit in some places. I've tried using DX11 and DX12, and in DX12 I've tried all the various DLSS options and they didn't feel like they made any noticeabble difference between any of them.

On a completely plain system, no addons at all, at 4k with frame rate uncapped with a 3090ti and the same settings I had with SU9 (TLOD 300, most visuals ultra or high), sitting on the runway at Heathrow I'm showing between 16-20 fps regardless of any of the DX11/DX12 options, and when I get off the ground it's still stuttery and doesn't go up much until I get away from the airport, and even then it doesn't go much above 30.

My CPs (16 physical plus HT) are still behaving pretty much as before - CP0 is pretty much flat out, the two highest (30 and 31) pretty busy and the rest evenly used at maybe 2-3%.

Early days, haven't had a long enough flight to see if the CTDs and general flakiness after around 40 minutes in have been fixed for me. I guess if that's sorted it'll be something, but so far, not impressed. If things really don't seem to have improved after I've had a bit more time playing I guess I'll try things like dropping back to the previous NV driver maybe, probably after a super thorough deinstall.

Been waiting a long time for this and getting excited seeing some of the comments here and elsewhere about it, but right at the moment I'm beginning to lose faith in the system. I really don't want to be doing with all the tweaking this is feeling like it needs.

Ryzen 9 7900X, Corsair H150 AIO cooler, 64 Gb DDR5, Asus X670E Hero m/b, 3090ti, 13Tb NVMe, 8Tb SSD, 16Tb HD, 55" Philips 4k HDR monitor, EVGA 1600w ps, all in Corsair 7000D airflow case. Sims in use - 2020, 2024, XP-12 and -11, FSX/SE, P3Dv4.5 and v5.4. DCS and AFS2 installed but rarely used

You have to go back into Insider and opt back out of the beta. It's highly encouraged to do that or else after a certain time period it opts out for you, and some folks have needed to reinstall after that.

doesn't this contradict what MS states here on staying in beta is fine if one wishes to continue with SU11 beta straight away?

Has anyone noticed any performance increase using DX12 with TAA rather than DLSS?

I'm asking since I am using a GTX 1080Ti, which does not support it. Currently at DX11 as the game ready driver isn't release yet, but enjoying it so far.

My sim is well optimized and was always smooth but might be able to increase some settings if DX12 offers significant boosts.

If the Nvidia Studio driver is working well for you, don’t change drivers, even if the Game Ready driver is released.  If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.

i5-12400, RTX 3060 Ti, 32 GB RAM

i will have a go now for you if i dont have to restart

You're absolutely right! My apologies, I wasn't aware we were changing up the procedure. Please disregard my previous advice!

picture clarity not has good as DLSS but no ghosting and smooth and responsive you should be ok with DX12 and a 1080ti ( i still miss mine ) using the new driver

This is weird as you have a Beast PC. 16-20 fps in Heathrow with 3090ti? I never had those numbers in MSFS so far on ultra settings.

Maybe you need to try with less TLOD, 100 to 200 ( max) as 3950x is fighting with the monster 3090ti

Anyone having this issue ?
Nothing happens.
33% , 50% or 100% always the same FPS

Yup, same here, no difference whatsoever.

RE :  If you "can’t switch to window view after update", here's a possible fix for you, because I had the same issue.

Check to see if your Windows Display Settings Display Resolution size is the same as the resolution you selected in the MSFS Graphics options.  I had both set to 4096 x 2160 for my large UHD TV and my MSFS2020 in-game screen was "locked" in Full Screen mode after the update, regardless if I chose Windowed or Full Screen in the Options settings.  BUT my Windows DEFAULT recommended setting for my TV was only 3840 x 2160.  So with MSFS2020 still running, I changed the resolution to 3840 x 2160 in the MSFS2020 Graphics options.  That caused the MSFS2020 screen to get SMALLER than my full screen size (because I still had my WINDOWS resolution set to 4096 x 2160), then I was able to SEE the top bar on the top of the "window" to drag the "window" larger to fit my TV's screen size (while STILL in Windowed Mode) AND THEN change back and forth between Windowed and Full Screen mode using the "click-box" in the top right corner of the "window".  Note that after I did this I could ALSO reset the MSFS2020 in-game resolution BACK to the 4096 x 2160 (to match my WINDOWS resolution again) and still have the Windowed and Full Screen options work in MSFS2020.

It looks like depending on if your resolution in MSFS2020 was set HIGHER than your monitor's "recommended default" resolution setting, the update "locked" your screen to "full screen" and you need to select no higher than your default monitor resolution in MSFS2020 to "get the window back" so you can then use windowed mode and Full Screen Mode settings in the game's Graphics settings.  You can THEN select the higher resolution you were using previously in the Graphics Options menu in MSFS, and switch back and forth between Windowed or Full Screen modes.

Hope that was clear enough to help some folks.

DLSS (quality mode)  runs "beyond silky smooth" (42 fps in VR) and looks great, even the fine print in the CJ4 glass cockpit does not show any anti aliasing/compression artefacts and is perfectly readable. I would recommend you get yourself a used RTX 3090 for 800$ or less. unless you are running at 4K or maximum VR resolution you won't need an RTX 4000 class GPU. not sure if DX12 runs any faster than before but very smooth.(keyword: pretty constant frame times, as others have already illustrated.)

60-130 fps. no CPU overclocking.

very nice.

Hey guys,

This might be a real stupid question lol

Prior to SU10 I ran 3840 X 2160 in the sim, when using DLSS do you keep the same resolution or do you have to lower it? In DX11 I definitely see an improvement with SU10 but the FPS didn't change dramatically when using DLSS, I tried all the settings. What I did notice is that the displays in the PMDG were not as sharp as when using regular TAA. For now I switched back to TAA to do a test flight. Will have to play around a bit later.

With that beefy a card, you're unlikely to be GPU limited. As such, increasing GPU performance with DLSS is not going to have much or any effect.
