As with most tsunamis, the impact could have been mitigated if the playing field had been prepared (hehe) for a tsunami. But it wasn't and now we're witnessing the inevitable. Markets are unforgiving.

Hamstrung by taking a pre-existing platform and trying to ensure backwards capability, especially given their preferred clientele - an approach that only works when there is little competition.
Sometimes coming in with a clean sheet product can work wonders.

Away from the sim-vs-sim comparison, I wonder just how popular the A300 is going to be? The free iniBuilds A310 will suffice for me and a lot of people could think likewise.

Lets be real what's keeping XP simmers loyal.... "bUt X pLaNe HaS A bEtTer fLiGhT MoDeL 🤪". I know if I poke the hive ill get Austins bees over here but, my point is, once Asobo ace that flight model and by the looks of new talent joining the team, they will eventually do... (and in my humble opinion overtake XP's flight model), what reason does anyone have to stay on XP. None. The future is here and its MSFS, Businesses move with the times or get left behind.. that simple.

I don't think you did anything wrong. As @styckx said already, this is the current state of the consumer flight simulation market. Better to speak about reality than trying to hide it.

Exactly. Some may forget but AVSIM used to be a toxic cesspit. Sorry mods but it was.

FSX was untouchable for ages. Dare talk negatively about it and you were doomed.

MS Flight came along and lord things got even worse..  It was ugly here.

DoveTail Games came in vulture like agenda and did the FSX Steam thing.. Which was.. Just FSX with patches anyone else could do

Prepar3D came along and it was a civil war. As FSX aged and Prepar3D matured the tides started slowly turning

Then X-Plane came into what is likely to be its pinnacle of success because of Ortho and Orbx.

The end story is. The simulator market has been beating a dead horse for decades.  Until 2020

Great, hope them have at least a screen for the FMS path, not like the BAE146 that still nowadays unrealistically does not have and it is not planned, I regret to buy the 146 by that, for me it is not from a serious addon company nor "study level", a shame.

Um what?  Are you talking about about an MFD that shows the magenta line?  The older BAE146s that Justflight models do not have those either, so in that sense it’s realistic.  They’ve also stated plans to bring newer garmin avionics to that version.  And the RF models with both glass PFD and MFD are in active development.  Maybe I’m misunderstanding your post but it doesn’t look like any of your information is correct.

My thoughts too.

Maybe I don’t understand that post either. But, I’ve noticed a lot of folks don’t care too much about realism. An example is (on another forum) folks are asking if the 747 Classic will have a full FMS. Some even saying they won’t buy it unless it comes with one. Huh? What is this obsession with FMS? The Classic had triple Delco Carousel IV-A then eventually Littons. The sim model should have the same. I’d love to see a study-type 707 and 727 but everyone wants FMS so what’s the point in developing a classic model?

The original BAe146 did not have any of those. I flew a lot on PSA and AirCal in the 80s and know they used VOR navigation. I’m happy with my 146 without advanced nav. Once the Universal FMS comes out I’ll def take a look at it as some carriers like Horizon had those.

Im just griping- sorry. I’m a fan of realism. I’ll take a full FMS with PMDGs 777 & 747 :-)

The 3rd party devs are going to go where the money is.  They also have to pay their bills, pay the rent, and put food on the table for their family.

In any case, this is good new for MSFS. I look forward to Just Flight's 747 Classic and A300B4-200 for MSFS.

Been waiting for this for the P3D for 3 years and although sad it won't be out just yet - I am in wraps for it in MSFS

I spent over a million miles almost in these 200 models of the 747 on business in the 70s - on Qantas -TWA - BA - and Pan Am and just loved the 1st class lounge upstairs.

On a B.A. flight from Heathrow to Hong Kong - we flew with 2 in First Class - and 7 in economy - the aircraft was being repositioned after the huge pilot's strike around 77/ 78??

Scott Phillips from Just Flight has commented more on this decision to switch from P3D to MSFS in the comments section of FSElite :

No not really. Up until last month we were still hoping to continue development and release for P3D. So really it took about a month and that delay was really just due to us wanting to be absolutely sure, exhausting all options prior to announcing. Thank you.

This is my guess only, but I suspect they had made the decision to stop the 737 and A300 for P3D earlier this year, especially back in April and May when even more users from P3D switched to MSFS when the study level airliners arrived in MSFS.

They are probably just announcing the decision now. I know they said "last month we were still hoping to continue development and release for P3D," but IMO, that's probably just for PR purposes, so as not to alienate their P3D customers.  Just Flight saw the writing on the wall for P3D last year, because most of the P3D developers jumped ship last year already to MSFS from the poor P3D add-on sales.  The spring of this year when the study level airliners arrived on MSFS was the final nail in the coffin.

So IMO, I don't buy the "last month" claim they are making.  But that's just my opinion.

Really happy about this. Love the A300 and 747 classic. The BAe is sweet and this will be a no-brainer instabuy for me.

I've moved this to Hangar Chat since the bulk of the discussion is not about MSFS.

Personally, after years of waiting on the vaporous JustFlight 747-200, I had already binned my hopes of ever seeing it (together with the Level-D 757) and given up on a 742 in P3D.  Instead, I acquired the Felis 747-200 for XPlane, which has exceeded my expectations and nicely filled that gap in my fleet.  Between the PMDG 747-400 and 747-8 in P3D and the Felis 747-200 in XP, I have plenty of good 747 options without having to wait forever for a JF offering to materialize (or not, as experience would suggest).

Similarly, the iniBuilds A300 in XP has more than answered the mail on that airframe as well.

I'm good with two birds in the hand...

Oh right, that would make more sense. I just saw there's a thread at the p3d forum too, they assume the same.
