That's the thing, outside of Orbx, Flightbeam, Fsdreamteam and Flytampa and a few others, most developers did the bare minimum to be compatible. This sometimes meant only recognizing the V5 registry entry but still placing year 2013 fsx compiled bgl and mdl files (and not using the xml install format). Prepar3d's backwards compatibility was also its detriment as many took the easy way out which was a huge disservice to the platform.  Props to iFly and I wish them success across all platforms they develop for.

Yes, this is why it is not a port of the iFly 737NG Advanced Series. It is all new from the ground up, which allows it to look as it does in the pictures.

Steve will this be sold as a stand alone add on or does it require purchasing the 737-800 base package?

It is standalone and not connected to the earlier development.

Thanks,

Do they have any plans to make the displays more accurate? That’s always been a con against iFly when compared to the competition…

This is next-generation development for them, not that their latest is far behind... but they decided to modernize many aspects for P3D.

Thanks,

Very nice, sorry to hijack this forum but any time frame when the MSFS release will happen? Thanks

No main time frame. MSFS is on the horizon, but the key at this time is P3D. Remember, P3D allows for unlimited pure C++ and many advanced types of API access (including Windows). This allows for unfettered access to any type of development. As MSFS improves, as it has been, porting 1 to 1 compared to P3D may be attainable. Imagine if Asobo allowed for C++ gauges? But for those truly wanting the rawest experience possible in aircraft systems, we believe P3D allows for that better than any other simulator (excluding X-Plane which we have not developed for).

As a side note I am not trying to say bad things about MSFS as we are involved in MSFS development now in several areas.

Thanks,

If the rumored P3D V6 pans out, I suspect your team will be in a great position to leverage the P3D SDK/PDK technologies LM bring to flight simulation.

Sorry if this has been asked, was there an ETA?  Doesn't need to be specific ... before year end or sometime Q1 next year?

Porting 1 to 1 will never happen, one allows pure access and the other one your calls have to go through WASM APIs. MSFS release will require you to rewrite things that you were accessing native Windows APIs directly with WASM APIs.

If you don't plan to release in MSFS Marketplace (aka no Xbox support), you can develop your modules to run externally which will allow you to access whatever you like, you can take a look at Fenix, its engine runs outside the simulator (although I would strongly advice to consider to just use WASM, similar to PMDG, Maddog and others).

I am just saying, given the large MSFS userbase, your ROI will be extremely high and I bet, sales in MSFS will beat any forecast you did 😉

I understand the logic Steve explained about a port to msfs. Anyway, as omarsmak30 said, they will have to make a few more effort if they want to release it for msfs. Don't expect Asobo to adapt to you.

It's seems very good but If the aircraft is released in 2023, I don't know how many sales they can expect with P3D only. Not all current P3D users will buy it and I doubt any msfs users would switch back to P3D just for this aircraft.

PMDG is planning a MAX in the future but it is still uncertain. Will it be after the release of the 777 and 747? Will it be after the first release of the 777? We don't know yet. If Ifly would be first on the MAX on msfs, they would make a killing in term of sales, that's for sure!

Anyway, nice to see that some developpers still release quality products for P3D.

Yep and that is exactly my point, if they manage to release on MSFS before PMDG releases their MAX, I bet, they will make a killing revenue! If I was the developer, I would really start the adopting to MSFS on a separate branch while releasing the P3D version first since is ready (I hope they are doing this?).

As explained previously, the iFly team have more than just a consumer-level product of their 737 add-ons to sell for the P3D platform.

I'll be providing some liveries for the Max.  As soon as I'm allowed to preview them I'll drop the screenshots here. I'm still under NDA so can't say anything, and I can't tell you which liveries I'll be doing just yet.  However, if you click the iFly link in my sig below, you can see the liveries I painted for the 737NG and maybe guess what paints I'll be doing for the Max. 🙂

It is in late beta and we hope for 2022 for sure.

Does anyone know if in this version there will be Rain effects on windshield? Because in iFly 737NG Advanced it doesn´t.

Thanks.

It is being looked at, but no promises. It depends on performance and other factors.

I think in this day and age, rain effects are a must-have. If performance is really an issue, make the effects optional.
