Cabri G2 Insight

Featured Replies

This is a beautiful looking helicopter inside and out.  Sounds are lovely too and I got into Vortex Ring State on accident!  Unfortunately it seems very basic for instrumentation.  The default GTN650 is very simple and not very functional as you cannot even switch the CDI from GPS to VLOC - in other words the VOR indicator cannot be used in with GPS source.  You can tune a VOR however when I change the OBS the needles don't change at all...  I do seem to get a valid signal though.

I do enjoy that it has a yaw string.

What are everyone else's thoughts?

My thoughts are, I haven't tried to navigate with it yet...but I did want to try out a CFD-enabled helicopter first thing. Anyway I find the controllability pretty easy, maybe too easy (?) but then again I have flown helos in sims for years.

For example I flew it from KCGI and today we're having rather strong winds out of the north due to this cold front (thanks Minnesota) and I thought I would have more trouble dealing with a 19 knot wind than I did.  I was able to take it up over I-55 and around/inspect some electric line pylons across the way, then circle around and land back at the airport.

Ryan mentioned in another thread that there were some heli assists that needed turning off in the menus. Could that be why?

Oh that could be why.  I haven't checked my assists menus yet

Love it, to me, the best 100% Made In Asobo aircraft since launch.

Please tell me they have the gorgeous tan interior version for this one?

Asus Maximus X Hero Z370/ Windows 10
MSI Gaming X 1080Ti (2100 mhz OC Watercooled)
8700k (4.7ghz OC Watercooled)
32GB DDR4 3000 Ram
500GB SAMSUNG 860 EVO SERIES SSD M.2

Can someone help,

The Cabri rotates to the left when increasing collective...I have to apply right rudder.

I was expecting the Cabri to rotate to the right (like with the 407). Also, I get horrible performance / stutters with this aircraft only.

Cabris rotor turns the other way than American helis (The bell), It is smooth as ice for me....

1/ the chopper comes with preset axes for the Warthog HOTAS. One brownie point.

2/ I have always had a terrible experience (aka crashes) at landing with choppers in FSX and P3D. Not here. My couple of landings had nothing to talk about but no crash. And the flight model doesn't seem particularly easy. Coordination rules and pays off. Another brownie point.

3/ Jumpy power needles when handled too swiftly

Sofar an excellent first impression.

I really love the Cabri. Indeed, turn off the assistance to get full experience of the flight model.
I'm with Dominique regarding the landings: no crashes either but also not to write home about. 🙂

My aircraft is intact so far but the skids have no paint left on the bottom 🙂

I'm loving this one too. Installed the PMS50 GTN 650 with WTT mode and it's much better than with the default (now have traffic, weather radar, and so on).

Got a mod for the TDS shortly...  Glidepath for RNAV approaches and Glideslope for ILS approaches working great!  Just to be clear, irl you wouldn't be doing IFR approaches in IMC in this type of helo.  But it would be great for practice approaches.  And just general GPS navigation.
