Coming back to flight sim after about 3 months and am interested in the A310, lots of information here, in a nutshell, I’m planning on taking it from Cyyz to kmia for its maiden voyage, is it ready? or should I just take the fenix or pmdg

I'm doing a flight from Entebbe, Uganda to Djibouti, Etiopia. Real time, and it's getting dark. How do I increase the light on the autopilot panel? I can increase the light on the pedestal and overhead panel, but still haven't found the knob that controls the light for the autopilot panel.

These screenshots are not 100% related to the post, but she sure is a beautiful aircraft 🙂

EDIT: I figured it out, it's the knob directly beneath the autopilot panel (I'm sure that's not the actual term, just can't remember the Airbus terminology).

I downloaded the enhanced version for the 4K internal and external textures. It makes a big difference on my 4K display.

And I normally don't spend that much time in airliner cabins, but I have to say that this one is absolutely gorgeous! Also it's probably the only time I get to travel in business class, lol 😂

Some files are encrypted as part of the ingestion process.
You won’t see those files and looking at your screenshot the WASM is fine.

Even though I'm late to the party, I'm very grateful for the feedback both here and on the MSFS forums (there's 1600 posts in that thread!). I guess I'll just enjoy the aircraft and stop worrying 🙂

Ah ha!  FINALLY someone posts how they got the enhanced version.  Based on your screenshot, this ephemeral "enhanced version" is in the Marketplace!

I'm wondering how different its performance will be with my old 8700K.  If it is mostly graphic improvements, I should be ok with my 3080ti.  But if it increases the load on the cpu, I would be in trouble.

That's hilarious as I still haven't finished reading through this thread 😅 On page 24 and 216nm to Djibouti.

You mean you haven't tried it yet? Or you haven't tried it in the latest beta? I'm very late to the party as I only got into the 40th anniversary a few days ago 🙂

I have flown a couple of flights in the "regular" A310 that comes with the 40th anniversary update.

I haven't downloaded this "enhanced" version though.  Everyone's talking about it, this and that.  But no one ever posted where it was.  Like I'm supposed to automatically know to go to the marketplace.  pffft.

Isn't Djibouti an overseas departement of France?  Or has it now been given to Ethiopia?

if WASM compilation is not completed and the needed files are not created as intended in the Package folder, how come is only affecting performance and not the whole aircraft systems? Am I missing something here?

I haven't tried the aircraft since I think without those files created by the compilation my aircraft will not be 100% usable, right?

I'm still somewhat confused about this, as even after finishing (finally!) all the posts in this thread, there's not that much info on the current state of WASM. I do appreciate @Zangoose's reply though, as well as ini's reply over at the MSFS forum. The latter suggests that the WASM compilation has taken place, but the .dll files are not visible in the folder as the aircraft is encrypted.

Another thing: just before going to bed last night I was a FL380 en route from Gold Coast Australia (YBCG) to Hong Kong Intl VHHH. Around 8:30 hrs. As I overslept, I woke up to the aircraft over mainland China with 10.000lbs of fuel to go. I had set a stopwatch on my iPhone and the aircraft had been flying for more than 12 hours. There was no sign of performance degradation - still - smooth! But - the MCDU was completely unresponsive as in frozen.

So I'm not sure if it's stable enough for long-hauls. As others have posted in this thread, the PMDG aircraft seem to have another level of stability. So far the BBJ seems a good option for long-hauls until the triple 7 is released.

I have access to the airplane folder and am going to have a go at resizing the textures to 2K instead of 4K which should help, it would have been awesome if they offered the upgraded texture option for the cockpit only.

Why the hesitance? You'll like it.

I can't even remember where I read that it was available from the marketplace. Still very far behind on a lot of stuff here at Avsim. As for Djibouti, apparently it got independence in 1977

40nm to destination. It's an ILS approach which have worked out fine on early test flights. I couldn't work out the RNAV approach into YBCG though. I didn't see any indication as to vertical navigation on the PFD, and "land" mode on the autopilot panel (what's the actual Airbus term?) didn't seem to do anything.

EDIT: Finished the flight, arrived safely in HDAM Djibouti. TOD seemed very wrong as it appeared more than 200nm before the destination. So I made my own calculations, started the descent in LVL/CH mode, then changed to PROFILE. Was fine all the way down to glideslope intercept. Even though I've successfully autolanded before, I spontaneously disconnected the AP (got "autopilot off" mapped to avoid the alarm) around 1000' AGL. Hand-flying the final approach went fine, went idle thrust at around 50', touchdown, nose down, spoilers auto-deployed, reverse thrust, no issues 🙂

I’ve noticed the same issue as well on my flights.

I would say it’s ready, go for it. A few quirks here and there but it’s mostly good.

Yeah this is a quirk for the A300/310 family IIRC...

The secret for a succesful RNAV approach is that you must arrive at platform altitude in either v/s or level change and not in Prof.

When you are established on platform altitude in altitude hold mode, you can arm the pseudo glideslope from the FMS and select "PROF" on the FCU (the actual airbus term).

Thanks! I was at platform altitude in ALT HLD mode, but I guess my mistake was arming LDG, not PROF.

It’s an interesting aircraft to learn for sure.

EDIT: Ah, FCU, thanks. FCU and MCDU. I’ve flown the A320 a lot, would think I’m able to remember the terminology, lol.

Inibuilds have good videos on flying this aircraft it'll answer most questions here.
