RTX 4080 - Frame Generation with G-Sync - some advice

And by smooth I mean fluid when looking around with TrackIR with no tearing or stuttering.

This is what FG achieves for me. I put this in my holy grail post. It’s not just smooth, it’s fluid. You can sense speed. You can sense that you’re flying at 100 knots low to ground etc… it removes the skipping effect you get at low, capped fps.

Exactly!

You describe it very well. It's the sense of speed and actually being there.

I am expecting a new system soon with a 4090. My 4e inch  4K monitor runs at 60 hz and is not gsync. If I am understanding this, I would cap the simulator at a fixed frame of 60? above that there would be screen tearing?

I ask as with my 3090, at higher altitudes I have frame rates much higher than 60, and do not notice tearing.

appreciate your replies.

I don't think you will have any tearing at all. The issue I had was because my old G-Sync monitor couldn't figure out how to deliver all those frames.
There shouldn't be any need to cap frames for your monitor. The only reason would be if your graphics card was working unnecessarily hard and delivering much more frames when it doesn't have to. But that can also be solved with V-Sync.
So I wouldn't worry about that. 🙂

Why You dont try DLSS DLAA?you have enough graphic power, its better then TAA, I use it, but I am limited in my settings because of the 10 GB VRAM of my 3080 Card.

Best wishes

Leo

I have tried DLAA today, and it feels slightly sharper than TAA, and had zero performance impact on my system. I didn't look at the VRAM usage, but it clearly wasn't an issue.
I'm running at +125% render scaling which helps with sharpness as well. My 3440x1440 resolution is rendered at 4300x1800.

(For those wondering, DLAA is an anti-alias method using the tech behind DLSS, but without rendering at a lower resolution. So you just get the sharpening.)

this site sort of tracks the prices on the 4080 all over the web:

Didn’t know that but it’s useful to know. Often AA is better with DLSS so I’ll give DLAA another try.

Getting some artifacts on the instrument panel with DLAA. I remember now that was the reason I changed to TAA.

Hello everyone,

I have an RTX 40900 and I can't activate the FG.

Is it because my three displays are not G-Sync?

If so, neither does he have a way around this block?

Thx for your reply

Regards

Are you running DX12 and do you have HAGS enabled under Windows graphics advanced properties?

Loved reading this thread. Like others I forked over the coin for a 4080 solely for FG. Picked it up last night but it is literally a millimeter too long to fit in a 4000D with a front mounted radiator. Have to run to the store to buy a different CPU cooling solution but I should hopefully be back in business and able to test out this new card tonight.

Just hack at the cooler with some tin snips until the 4080 fits!

It's got to go in, and go in quick - we need the review!

I will likely go for one when the prices drop, and if the reviews continue to be favourable.

If it won't fit in the case, I will probably end up just bread-boarding the motherboard - better ventilation anyway!

I like to trick airline passengers into thinking I have my own swimming pool in my back yard by painting a large blue rectangle on my patio.

Yes, everything is activated.
I have a question, I changed my graphics card, I had before an RTX3090 and now the 4090, is MSFS well taken into account?

Not sure what you mean by well taken into account but the other obvious thing to check is due you have the latest (or very recent) Nvidia driver?

Why do you want MSFS not to be taken into account. Of course it will. If you are not certain delete your cfg.opt. Make sure you always have the last driver.
