Why MSFS is hands down the best FlightSim by 737NG Driver

Featured Replies

IMO the #1 really irritating missing/broken feature of MSFS is its save flight feature.  Since I usually have about 1 hour or less of sim flight time available, it is really frustrating that when a saved flight in progress is loaded, all the GPS programming originally set up for the flight is lost.  If it wasn't that MSFS wasn't so completely amazing otherwise, I'd still be with FSX and its perfectly working flight save and restore.  Since it seems that only a few really care about this broken flight save/load feature, for it has a wish list entry with about 180 votes, chances of it being properly implemented seem non-existent.

Why not just go on a 1 hour flight? I do all my flight planning in Simbrief, prior to actually flying.

Well, that's the solution I've been forced to use, but I still really miss those 3-5 hour multi-waypoint GA flights of the good ol' days.  But hey, MSFS is so incredible compared to the ESP based sims of yore, and with VR to boot, it's a no brainer to sim fly MSFS regardless of its shortcomings.

Personally, I have been totally spoilt with MSFS. It is mind blowing in VR. Love to come home after a hard day at work and then live the fantasy of being an A320 captain. I have to rub my eyes sometimes as I cant believe what I am looking at. The performance of MSFS really adds to the immersion.

We'll eventually get a working save flight feature. After they get through "their" list of things to add. If we weren't getting new and improved features on a regular basis, I would not be happy about it. For now, I'll just wait, fly, and think happy thoughts.

As other have said, It's great and really hope it will improve on a fast pace, like it did before, a complete overall of the ATC, some kind of radar contact with emergency procedure would be awesome.

Yes the ATC really really needs work.  There's always other aspects of the sim which need improvement but air traffic is such an integral part of aviation.  It's probably the largest downside to the sim right now.

In fact I don't even use the built in ATC at all because of this.

If they ever need assistance on making it better I know a few people 🙂

I tend to agree, ATC and traffic both would benefit from sustained attention and I hope they can put some resources on this. I also don't use the ATC at all as I can figure out the procedures and communications myself -- so I just imagine the whole thing.

From a former controller, PE - Pilotedge is the ticket.

Eh it's great service no doubt but it's very local.  And not everyone wants to pay for a service.  I still think built in ATC is important.

I used PE since it was in beta and am a charter member. But I don't have time for it right now.

Agreed; I worked with the PF3 team a few years back and RC4 (from ZME folks) is still highly respected but I don't think usable in MSFS.

Just another someone with another opinion. To each his own. Much of the MSFS2020 YouTube content is simply monetized paid content. Actually most of it is garbage anyway.

I've never been able to fly with default ATC in any sim.  The robotic voices are a major immersion killer to me.

That guy is highly respected and I have been following his videos. And he didn’t pain all rainbows in the video

Not to derail the thread but yikes! That’s almost as much as I pay in a year for (fast!) broadband internet.

Kind of outrageous given there was a freeware data source that worked just fine until the PSXT developer deliberately disabled it in favor of RT, but again, I digress…glad you’ve found something that works for you. Genuinely. 😀

The $172 USD quoted was for the professional Lic. The gentleman you replied to left that bit out. If you want historical, you pay 172. The standard lic is half that.

Also, The dev of PSXT could not advance his software using the freeware ADSB app. RT was able to offer features we now enjoy in PSXT.
