SimWorks Studios is developing the B-52

Featured Replies

No, it's not April 1st yet. This is from their Facebook page, about halfway down their last update news for the year:

Last but not least, we have been working on the B-52 Stratofortress for some time. The exterior is progressing and plans are to do the three separate packages:
>B-52B through D
>B-52E & F
>B-52G & H, pre and post-EVS
Each package will highlight the differences in cockpit configuration and performance, modelling the different stations and allowing multi-crew capability using YourControls. The thing about the B-52 is that we are taking our time with it because it is a favorite of many team members, and it will take however long it needs to be done right.

A B-52 by SWS. Dear god...

Oh boy, I for one would pay serious money for one of those.

The Dash 7 was developed in partnership with PILOTS GesmbH. From what I understand, SWS have completed their side of the work and the model is in PILOTS hands, awaiting release.

The B-52 seems a rather large mouthful for SWS to have bitten off, what with the various marks ( B through to H ) and the appropriate flight models for each one. Even the crew stations will alter, reflecting the technological advances that have taken place over the aircraft's service life. The news that it's been in development for some time is very encouraging, but I wonder if they might have to rein in their aspirations and settle for one or two variants.

Nevertheless, even a single mark of B-52 would be an incredible achievement. And a B-36 ? Gawd, yes please!! 😁

I know this is a bit off topic,   but......speaking of crew positions,   I was stunned and elated to learn that Microprose has been developing 4 updated version of B-17.

I still have the paperback manual (book) that came with it,  and the maps too I think.   Really happy about this.

Interesting extremely niche choice.  Hope it sells well for them!

I was stationed at Castle AFB maintaining the G/H BUFF hatches and ejection seats. I've never had to take the seats out off them unlike the fighters.

In phase inspections the hatches had to be remove before the engines were removed due to flexing of the wings.
