Are we ever going to get pop up FMCs?

Featured Replies

I miss the pop ups we have in P3D, where you can easily bring up the FMC or EFB with all buttons w/o having to change views in the cockpit.

Unless Asobo add support for such things then no probably not. There is probably a feature request over on the forums or dev forums that can be upvoted for more support. I know there is some work arounds out there for specific addons.

Is it really necessary anymore?  Assign a camera to the FMC.  Job done.

Thanks, is there a guide on how to set that up?

I just find it easiest to click the FMC and get it focused

For home cockpits yes it is.

5800X3D, 4090FE, 64GB DDR4 3600C16, Gigabyte X570S MB, EVO 970 M.2's, Alienware 3821DW  and 2  22" monitors, Corsair RM1000x PSU,  360MM MSI MEG, MFG Crosswind, T16000M Stick, Boeing TCA Yoke/Throttle, Skalarki MCDU and FCU, Logitech Radio Panel/Switch Panel, Spad.Next

I just installed Flybywire A320 and it has a great option to send MCDU to another laptop, IPAD Its great

So I can used it as a real MCDU

I wish other aircraft addons could do that

Move the camera over the FMC.  Set the camera by pressing Ctrl+0 (or whatever number from the Numpad)

Then just press 0 to select/unselect the camera

Not enough: I can't keep EFB and FMC side by side, as I could do with a popup. Same when checking a route while entering it in the FMC: I need to place the camera in an awkward angle to see both displays at the same time.

I just write the bits i need from the EFB on a notepad.  Sometimes in flightsim, we want things to be way too easy.  Even real world is not that easy all the time and requires workarounds.

I have a key assigned to the MCDUs in the Fenix, but often I just look over with track IR and zoom in with mouse wheel. Either way is beyond simple.

Doesn't seem practical, or does it?   Are assigned cameras specific for each airframe?

What I can't figure out is why they don't simply make the rt-Alt click that brings up various components but does not save their resized size and position which could go a long way to improving this w/ little coding effort it would seem.

I have a view assigned to the FMC, and a view assigned to the EFB.  I have a controller (an old Logitech gamepad velcro'ed to my yoke) set up and I press one button for the FMC and the other button for the EFB, and I can switch between them instantly, back and forth.  I use the same buttons for every airplane, so when I switch for example from the A310 over to the PMDG 737, it's all the same to go between EFB and FMC.

Ultimately though I'd like to get a tablet and place the FMC on the tablet with touch commands.  And I already have a laptop to my left, where I'd like to place my EFB.  I haven't really dug into too deeply yet though.
