drama.

We have seen so many hot debates like that over the years that I suppose the old hands have become a little, excuse my French 😉, blasé.

The simmers benefit both from the labor of love of the "creators" and from the labor of love, yes here too, from these entrepreneurs who took a risk and founded FSTO. Our interest is not to throw oil in the fire.

If  some of the articles of the ToS  are a bit one-sided  they are a contract , "contrat léonin" , a lion's contract as we would say in French, but a contract nonetheless.  One can accept or refuse it.

I am a bit concerned by the ATR issue but I haven't not seen any other cases or the original uploader protesting of an usurpation.

I am speaking only of mods to existing default sim objects, not original work.

But those who are now leaving or have left are building everything themselves. And they are probably the best.

I am so looking forward to the good old days of having 25,000000000000 bookmarks for each product website......can't wait 😔

When it comes to payware, I have no problem going directly to the creator’s own website - in fact I prefer to do that rather than buying from the one-stop MSFS Marketplace, mainly because of the extremely slow pace of updates when a new version of the product comes out, and encryption of Marketplace files that can cause complications.

But when it comes to freeware, if content is not distributed through flightsim.to I simply won’t bother. I have better things to do than to hunt down dozens of potential file repositories/hosting services because creators no longer want to use flightsim.to.

Yes, and I have had the naive thought, that we have learned a bit from them. At least to wait, ask and most important: do not spread false accusations. But it is everytime the same, that a few poeple obvisiously have a lot of fun to heat up such discussions and have fun with the drama.

Regarding the ATR:

All we know is, that it was formerly a payware, which the modder has got the permission to port it over. Maybe he  doesn't want it support any more? He is still active at flightsim.to. And it all happened some time back as far as I know, not just these days. So, in my opinion, he is ok with it, otherwise he wouldn't use fs.to any more ... but who knows?

According to the comment left by the original developer that ported the product over he left on the ATR saying he was removing everything till the TOS was much clearer that has now disappeared

Do you have a link?

The dev has updated sceneries as usual yesterday. I see no comment anywhere at fs.to

It was on the ATR page before I believe or on his own page but doesn’t show anymore. I only saw it yesterday

Had a look also yesterday, but haven't seen anything. So, seems to be a mystery somehow.
As long as he is active and uploading on fs.to, I assume he is ok with them ...

I’d be very curious to have a list of the creators who sung from the altar that they were pulling their stuff and leaving where they are at 12 months from now. I think the vast majority of us will continue to use .to and never bother looking elsewhere.

Same

From what I could see, fortunately the scope of this 'boycott' is being very limited so far. Only 1 or 2 'relevant' devs followed by a few 'minor' devs that produce addons I've never heard of.

I believe most of them will eventually come back to flightsim.to, especially if they introduce the proposed deletion policy. It was funny to see one of the devs who joined the boycott ask in the comments where everyone is going. If you still don't know where to put the files, then you shouldn't have deleted them from flightsim.to in first place.

They'll realize how very low exposure their content will get outside flightsim.to. If they're happy with that, that's their problem. Most MSFS users, myself included, will continue to look for freeware exclusively on flightsim.to and don't intend to Google where the half dozen devs who boycotted the site have posted their content.

Unless....

They end up on the FBW installer, or in the freeware section of the MSFS Marketplace.... 🤔

Obviously we don’t have a proper freeware section in marketplace yet but perhaps this sad and entirely avoidable fs.to self inflicted event might actually hasten asobo/ms into developing one?

Part  of the issue putting off developers seems to be the apparently strict requirements for marketplace products.

The marketplace and particularly console users would benefit massively from a freeware marketplace section full of these fantastic simple free dlc like the smaller airports and liveries etc.

I can tell you right away, with full certainty, that Got Friends including Got Gravel, Mykrode and myself will never be coming back to Flightsim.to.

Flightsim.to's latest decision to terminate our partnership, vendor contract, payware and freeware products have shown us that we can never trust that platform again. We fully believe our public statements on the matter is what has driven Flightsim.to to revise their deletion policy. Unfortunately that has resulted in the irrevocable termination of our account. We are just honored to have stood up for all community developers. "Hopefully" we helped make a difference, so that all Flightsim.to content can be better protected in the future.

That said, we will never come back to Flightsim.to nor wish to do so. You can find our selection of Payware and ever growing Freeware selection on our official website:

Full respect for your stance, and the brilliant products you make.  It's their loss!  Nice to see your website developing by the way.
