February 24, 20233 yr It feels like there is very little news happening in the x-plane 3rd party world. Or is it just me? I'm a flight simulation fanatic and I'm always checking for the latest news across all the sims to see what is happening and projects to look forward to. Given the beta period and a few months pass release, I'd expect to see a lot more announcements about planes, new airports, projects in the work etc. Just one look at https://fselite.net/ and you'll see what I mean. February 24, 20233 yr Well, my perception is exactly the opposite... Compared to the previous months, the last month, specially after the dynamics of the latest updates, has brought quite a few ports of XP11 aircraft into XP12-ready versions, in most cases without the users having to pay for it, which is simply great! I have benefited from this in products like the Toliss A319, the Flight Factor A320 U and 757 Pro, MDLAG WW2 and cold war fighters, the Bell 412, to name just a few... As the core sim enters a stable state we can expect more developers to join, and, I believe, some of those who announced having jumped into the other sim will probably return, sooner or later... I am convinced that Xp12 will grow in success, specially among those who are more concerned with the quality and detail in flight and systems modelling, but also with good real world weather modelling based on observation and forecasts, and LR hasn't closed the door to 3pds in that area, so, when the necessary SDK becomes available I hope we might have some more nice surprises 🙂 Edited February 24, 20233 yr by cagarini Flying gliders since 1980 Flightsimming since 1992 AMD Ryzen 5600x, 32GB RAM, GPU Nvidia RTX 3060 Ti 8 GB, 1 TB and 500 GB nvme2 SSD drives, HP 27" 60Hz LED monitor @ 1920x1080, T16000, Hotas from old X52 Pro, Saitek Combat Rudder Pro (2010 model)
February 24, 20233 yr My perception is also opposite 🙂 Many XP11 aircraft have been updated for XP12 plus new aircraft. I have purchased the Q4XP from FlyJSim for some airliner flying and in the next week or so I will purchase the Hotstart CL650. Not only have I downloaded several utilities, one of the best has been VisualXP (default atmosphere/lighting in XP12 is superb, yet this plugin manages to add super effects), XP12 itself has had many great updates - 12.04 being of note with very good weather updates. Default airports in XP12 are very good indeed. Oh, I see another update has landed, lets see what this brings! February 24, 20233 yr You'd have to go The Org to get the XP news.... FSElite covers some but it's mostly Microsoft oriented. I guess XP12 is still pretty new...even the steam stats show not a ton of people are using it. Now I'm not certain if steam stats is only based off of purchasers who went through steam? At any rate there are more devs porting their stuff over from 11 or making new native products. Aerobask has a lot of their stuff already in XP12 - I recommend the DA50 and the DA42, and of course the Legacy! Personally, I deleted XP11 the day XP12 went in early access, I could not stand it any longer! 🙂

Are you the only cheerleader? I would consider buying the 650 except for certain persons associated with the product.
February 24, 20233 yr The biggest strategic mistake for xplane was to not provide existing Xp11 owners with a fair price upgrade, especially given that many had purchased msfs2020. It's exactly what happened in my case. I own xp11, but do not feel I want to shell out for the full cost of xp12 as well as risking the obsolescence of paid add ons. This applies to p3D. I own version 4.xx, but decided not to pay the full price for version 5. tc
February 24, 20233 yr Speaking of Aerobask, anyone know if the Falcon is coming anytime soon? Regards Paul EGCC

I see the same from other simulation-oriented sites. I think it has to do with the lack of big news related to xplane. fselite covers the major sims like P3D, MSFS, DCS etc. The x-plane devs even did the developer series with them. 2 hours ago, ryanbatc said: I guess XP12 is still pretty new...even the steam stats show not a ton of people are using it. After that it will continue to grow but at a much, much slower pace. 2 hours ago, cagarini said: I have benefited from this in products like the Toliss A319, the Flight Factor A320 U and 757 Pro, MDLAG WW2 and cold war fighters, the Bell 412, to name just a few... Toliss, Flight Factor, Aerobask are guaranteed. Maybe I was expecting more frequent and big announcements though, from the likes of orbx for example. A few of us are waiting for a more stable API and documentation, but it's far from quiet (at least internally). Just like previous XP releases, the products will start flowing out once we we're a few months in and developers know what will remain stable throughout the 12 lifecycle

Its a good, and honest question. and not an easy one answer. First, this 1 hour ago, ryanbatc said: I think their Discord is a lot more active. Seems to be the trending way to communicate with a development group or for support. 100%. locate your favourite devs discord invite and jump in there, a lot of busy day to day "noise" happens in those channels. A side effect of this is XP news via other channels is slower, but what does drop is much bigger, just look at the XP avsim pages of decent threads worth reading blow by blow. very good signal to noise. I personally asked fselite to hold off writing up the latest on the 744 until a new more tested release is ready, but there has been something new pretty much every day just on that. The other significant aspect is, XPL is 25 years+ in now, there isnt a new aircraft or airport development (that will mostly end up never getting released, or being low quality if they do) being announced every other few hours, because XPL already has a pretty much complete set of good or high quality aircraft and airports, many several times over, of which pretty much no one has a clue exactly which are compatible with 12, many many are. (exceptional are just that - the exceptions, and I cant think of a single one of them who doesnt already or is at least very close to having something XP12 specific out soon) AutoATC Developer
