Niagara Falls in development for MSFS 2020

Featured Replies

Nice, this will be a fun place to fly helicopters around.

I proposed to my wife overlooking Niagara Falls.

Wow! Given I live 25 min from the falls, I think I may have to buy this one. 😳

YEEEEES!  At last.  I know this area inside out.  It will go great with the the SamScene Toronto scenery.

I thought the Cagoules for the Maid of the Mist boats were light blue though, not orange - may be a deal breaker!

It will go as well with IniBuilds Niagara Buffalo Airport (KBUF). 😉

Give this developer all your love. The Victoria Falls and Zambezi River Gorge from the same is awesome.

Trains!
Hope we see more of them in the future (and native in the Sim itself).

There are a lot of things that could add a more life to the sim and trains would be awesome, lots of them!  I'd also love to see shooting stars at night, and aurora borealis, and birds, lotsa birds!  I bought FS Birds but it's a disappointment of sorts especially when you taxi overtop of a group of small birds that continue pecking away at the tarmac despite being run over by the plane 🙃

I will definitely buy this, and think all the extras are very impressive. Shame the actual falling water still looks ropey but I guess that's a sim thing.

Trains have been in demand from the early alphas but never been considered seriously. So far they seem to have been taken to the backburner with a possible  release in the next year (at least that's what I recall). Not sure what's the stumbling block as X-Plane sports them and they add to the experience.

Kind regards, Michael

I wonder how much MS/A considers performance impacts in some of their development timetable, perhaps in sync at least some with where the hardware goes.  Your system is significantly stronger than mine, and mine is only about 2y/o now.  Right now I'm maxed out, keeping all settings at Ultra, such that sometimes I need to dial the frame lock down to 30 to cope w/ conditions, and on  rare occasion need to kill FSLTL.  SU12 has had a small negative impact on total performance is my sense.

Enjoyed seeing the speedboat heading down towards Niagara on the Lake my wife and I took that ride many years ago, and just in 2016 me and my late bro Gord (left) did a 10K motorcycle trip coast to coast and up into Canada and stopped to enjoy this magnificent place...

I'll just be happy if they get rid of the dang ground vehicles driving all over the place.

wow...

two thoughts

First, the scenery does look really nice and it is good to see small regional specific designs like this.

Second, being out on the west coast I always thought this would be an interesting area to visit, but after seeing this I realize know the potential natural beauty of this area has been fully transformed into a somewhat trashy theme park.  I guess I always assumed it was a national park type of place, not sure it would be worth the trip for me anymore.

CPU: Core i5-6600K 4 core (3.5GHz) - overclock to 4.3 | RAM: (1066 MHz) 16GB
MOBO: ASUS Z170 Pro |  GeForce GTX 1070 8GB | MONITOR: 2560 X 1440 2K

Theirs is definitely a tourist trap or poor man’s Vegas vibe to some of it, but if you’re in the area the falls themselves are still worth a visit.

Last time I was there they had some noticeably dodgy hotels that the 19+ American kids would crash at when they came drinking and partying in Canada.

The US side of the falls is very much like this, very well done by our neighbors. The Canada side as regis9 said is nice very close to the falls, but they are starting to be overshadowed by the tourist traps.  Impressive scenery, however, captured a good many of those traps!

MSFS 2024. Primary Planes: Black Square TBM850, Duke, Baron, Caravan; A2A Comanche; FSReborn Phenom; Fexix A321; PMDG 737-7, 777: Utilities: Active Sky (Passive Mode); BATC, FSLTL.

I fly over the falls 2-3 times each summer. Aircraft in the Niagara Falls pattern are at 3500’ ASL or higher. The helicopter tours fly the oval pattern at 3000’ or lower. This will be great for the choppers to explore some details of the area. The only major thing I noticed are the huge boulders at the base of the American Falls - they need to be reduced in size. The mist is looking very realistic as are the laser lights at night. They could ramp up the rapids on the Niagara River as they are pretty spectacular.

For those interested in the Falls traffic pattern https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eriEPWJaWNw

Here is the real world to sim comparison that looked very good at 3500’ with default scenery https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=94PfWwteke8

I'm happy to see some trains, but would prefer if they were a bit more plausible in length, make up etc.

Sorry I'm probably that guy who is the reason Asobo doesn't do a basic railway layer in MSFS.

It's a place I visited a couple of times in the SIM, and I never understood why asobo let it be so horrible, when it was such an obvious point of Interest.

At first, I thought that animated moving water was just something that wasn't developed yet, but later I decided that the mesh was so bad because for some reason asobo just didn't really consider the area a priority
