This is the sim where one can create challenging scenarios in airliners or ga aircraft (turbulence flights, mechanical issues, landing issues, mile high club etc).

Be careful! This is the one who´s name we don´t mention in this forum.🤭

Who you are talking about?

If the only improvement LM makes for v6 is related to the weather - the atmospherics, effects, lighting, clouds, etc., then that is significant and worth the switch.

I think that will depend on how many add-ons can also make the switch... I don't really want to fly around in default aircraft. Has PMDG commented on their P3D line up for V6? I understand iFly has indicated its not an entirely small undertaking

Like FS Labs they’re under an NDA until Monday. Expect more then.

Or not. There's no reason to expect PMDG to make a comment on Monday. Maybe they will, maybe they won't.

One things for sure, if RSR makes a comment it will be lengthy....

If PMDG update their planes, it won't be for a long time. P3D would have to be so low on their 'priority' list at the moment, especially if it requires a far bit of work.

From the official P3D website:

Beginning with Prepar3D v6, the Academic license will be replaced with a Personal license. A Personal license will expand the user group beyond K-12 academic institutions by allowing use within a licensee’s personal residence. The Personal license will require users to maintain internet connectivity during use.

It was nice that LM changed the Academic license to a Personal license. But I didn't expect this, that personal users always have to maintain an internet connection to use P3D.

i5-12400, RTX 3060 Ti, 32 GB RAM

This might be a moot point as live weather, live traffic, ForeFlight, Navigraph etc. rely on constant internet capability. I know some aircraft developers require weekly license checks. If you don’t use any of these then it might be an issue if you fly with limited or no internet.

FsLabs said that the NDA is lifted on Monday but they will not necessarily communicate about their future plans on Monday. So not sure we'll hear from PMDG on Monday too.

Anyone who uses Active Sky already does. It’s on by default on my system. I’d have to physically remove the Ethernet cable which isn’t going to happen. I don’t see this as a problem.

Well this is interesting. I remember P3D users bashing MSFS for requiring a constant connection but......ok then.

Yeah I was about to say. God it was such an important point, imagine if you lost connection?! 🤯 People absolutely didn't wanted to be FORCED to be online, oh my god on my travels, my offline laptop, my spotty backwater connection, it was a disaster, we'll stick to our <sim of choice>

Fast forward to forced connection in P3D and yeah it's fine, now it's a non-issue.

Correct. There was so much shade thrown at MSFS when it was announced it required that constant connectivity. Seems its a different story three years later.
