CYUL Montreal: FSimStudios

Featured Replies

Hey Guys.  Per their discord.  FSimStudios will be doing this one.  They say release by August.  Guess FlyTampa has some competition!

5800X3D, 4090FE, 64GB DDR4 3600C16, Gigabyte X570S MB, EVO 970 M.2's, Alienware 3821DW  and 2  22" monitors, Corsair RM1000x PSU,  360MM MSI MEG, MFG Crosswind, T16000M Stick, Boeing TCA Yoke/Throttle, Skalarki MCDU and FCU, Logitech Radio Panel/Switch Panel, Spad.Next

Fantastic.  FT was taking far too long with their version so it’s great to see others enter the fray.

Dave

Current System (Running at 4k): ASUS ROG STRIX X670E-F, Ryzen 7800X3D, RTX 5090, 55" Samsung Q80T, 64GB DDR5 6000 RAM, EVGA CLC 280mm AIO Cooler, Brunner CLS-E NG Yoke, Thrustmaster Warthog HOTAS & Stick, Thrustmaster TCA Quadrant & Add-on, VirtualFly Ruddo+, TQ6+ and Yoko+, GoFlight MCP-PRO and EFIS, Skalarki FCU and MCDU

That is great news!  Now if it is anything like Toronto, Fly Tampa should release YUL by early next week! 🙂

Fly Tampa and Flightbeam are remarkable scenery developers but it is really taking them much, much, much too much time to release some of these larger airports, major hubs, that many of us would like to have a solid rendition of in the sim. I don't actually need Flightbeam quality, just an accurate layout, well modeled and textured product. I wish someone would also take on SFO, the last major United hub without a payware rendition.

MSFS 2024. Primary Planes: Black Square TBM850, Duke, Baron, Caravan; A2A Comanche; FSReborn Phenom; Fexix A321; PMDG 737-7, 777: Utilities: Active Sky (Passive Mode); BATC, FSLTL.

And so is MK. Competition is a good thing for simmers.

where did they say this?  I missed it?

edit: See it now

Think I'm off of FT, they spend too much time doing interiors and it just kills performance. At least make it an option.

The bad take that refuses to die...
Isn't it funny how at the sceneries from the better developers where you can turn off their interiors, there's not that much difference overall in performance. It's almost as if how a developer optimises their entire scenery for MSFS results in good performance, rather than simply 'iNtErIoRs ArE bAd!'

Great! I like FSimStudios' work.
Being frank, FlyTampa has its hands full with EHAM and possibly OMDB. But given their inability to do proper marketing and keep their customers informed, who knows what they are working on.

AMD Ryzen 5800X3D; MSI RTX 3080 Ti ; 32GB Corsair 3200 MHz; ASUS VG35VQ 35" (3440 x 1440)
Fulcrum One yoke; Thrustmaster TCA Captain Pack Airbus edition; MFG Crosswind rudder pedals; miniCockpit FCU; CPFlight MCP 737; Logitech FIP x3; TrackIR

MSFS; Fenix A320; A2A PA-24; HPG H145; PMDG 737-600; AIG; RealTraffic; PSXTraffic; FSiPanel; REX AccuSeason Adv; FSDT GSX Pro; FS2Crew RAAS Pro; FS-ATC Chatter

Interested to see how this turns out. Like others, I love FlyTampa but they are really taking way too long to release some of their products.

FlightBeam has been working on KSFO for a long while and should be their next release.  Mir is a perfectionist so I am sure it will be worth the wait...

To be fair, AFAIK FlyTampa are a part time dev doing this beyond their day jobs. I'd cut them some slack for taking long.

That's really great news, we've been waiting way too long for CYUL.

I can understand that, I just want other developers to move forward and create versions of these airports. I would rather have a decent quality airport to use than a perfectionist version later on; so I am happy Fsimstudios jumped forward and made CYUL and did not ignore it with the idea that FlyTampa will eventually release it.

I also have mixed feelings about this... FS developers 'claim' a scenery by making an announcement. A 'recent' example is the announcement of David Rosenfeld with LIMC (Milan Malpensa) about a years ago. But since the announcement it is quiet... In the past this was mostly accepted. But with the newer platforms a lot of new devs came in and created whatever they like... Good for the competition, especially when a dev like FlyTampa takes years to complete a project.

On the other hand you see devs rushing to get their scenery out first. We have seen 3 versions of LFSB (Basel) for instance. Also JustSim is known for bringing out airports a bit quicker when there is competition. But when you buy a product of them  don't expect any support...

Another example: Orbx did a EGLC v1 which was lacking. Numerous requests for fixes, but silence. UK2000 announces the release of an up-to-date EGLC and boom there is an Orbx v2. And the same thing; a lack of support when i.e. asking for simple things like the support of default ground vehicles.

I see two trends; devs are rushing out scenery more and after release support is lacking a lot... Another example is RDPresets who respond on issues that they rather focus on new sceneries than fixing existing ones...

I hope things will settle down and quality prevails, also in support...
