Usually when a localizer is offset, it will cross the runway centerline at the point where you arrive at the missed approach altitude. Just a matter of making a slight turn at that point to align with the runway.

The only one I've come across only crosses with the runway in the touch down zone at KORD 10C (or is it 10R) unless you turn left first and then make a final right turn.

Runway 10R at KORD actually has two localizers. One is offset 2.5 degrees to the right, and one is not. The offset localizer (ILS Y, frequency 110.9) is used for traffic separation when they are conducting simultaneous parallel approaches to the adjacent runway 10C. (Runway 10L has an ILS too, but it is ordinarily used for departures).

The non-offset localizer (ILS Z, frequency 110.75) is mainly used for CAT II and CAT III approaches to 10R.

A similar arrangement is used at Detroit - (KDTW) on the westernmost runway 04L/22R. There are offset localizers at both ends, used when parallel approaches are being conducted to the adjacent runway 04R/22L, and non-offset localizers used when parallel approaches are not being conducted. The offset localizers are on frequency 111.75, and the non-offset are on frequency 111.95.

I have read some comments about the difficulty of landing the Fenix V2 compared to V1.  I really never liked the way V1 handled on landing, and I flew it for months with poor landing rates, bounces, landing long, and all of the above..

Since I installed V2, landing the Fenix is a joy. Every landing is great, no problems at all. Here is a copy of my A Pilots Life landing report on my second landing this morning into LFLL.  This is pretty typical of all my landing reports now.

100% Agreed. I never felt landing characteristics on V1 was that great. I'm also not a real pilot, so I can't say it was wrong. However, V2 is much smoother and I find it significantly more easier to land.

I don’t think the API is for Wx Radar…. rather for NEXRAD. I too would love accurate Wx depictions, but we are still working on accurate Wx…

It's not just nexrad. It can actually be configured to give you a vertically conical fixed return (see FlytheMaddogX as an example). The problem for devs like pmdg and fenix is that it's too basic (no tilt, variable gain, windshear detection, lightning detection, etc) and they either won't implement it based on principle (not advanced enough to fit in with their current fidelity standards) and/or just don't think its worth the time and effort involved.

In my first flight with the new version it definitely felt like the aircraft settled on the runway better on touch down…and that was with Voltana reporting a 350 fpm touchdown.

It goes beyond not providing what we need, but not actually being compatible outside of a very niche portion of the SDK, so for several developers it would require an entire rewrite of some pretty core parts of the aircraft; it's just not worth putting several months and tens of thousands into something that'll lead to customer complaints for not functioning correctly (most customers wouldn't understand the difference between us doing a bad job, and a platform limitation), overall lower performance (even when not using WXR), and several features we'd have to remove from our existing simulation to support it.

With that said, we'd gladly put that sort of effort into a WXR system if it were to address the aforementioned issues.

Just took my first flight, what a pleasure to fly, the performance, handling, sounds, an update worth waiting for.

Probably the most informative post I have yet seen on why WXR is difficult to implement, at least in regards to your particular case. Thanks.

Just how do you get the new version?

I have a Fenix account.  I originally installed the update on top of my old install but it was not working properly (zero control).  I think it was version 118 and new version is 120 but when I clicked in the top right hand corner of the Fenix app I would get a "Page Can't be Displayed" error.  So I just uninstalled the whole thing so I could start fresh.  Went to fenixsim.com logged into my account went to dashboard to download a whole new installer.  When I click on A320 all I get is "Page Can't be Displayed" error.

Must be something stupid I am missing?

Did you delete the two Fenix folders before reinstalling?

You're taking all the right steps from what I can see. If you couldn't install it from the app, then go to the fenixsim.com, login, go to your dashboard and click download for the a320 package, as you stated. If it's giving you a page can't be displayed error, then something's wrong with your connection to the site. Check in with their support team for further assistance.

The first time I just downloaded the the exe file and installed it on top of the old one.  However after installing it it would not update.  Ironically during a test flight it worked perfectly and I felt it was better.  However this morning I loaded up with a payload for a flight but had no control of the aircraft once the wheels left the runway.  I heard you are supposed to do a fresh install anyway so I just removed everything Fenix related using the add/remove in the control panel of windows.

I figured I would just log into fenixsim.com and download a fresh new installer but all I get when I go to the dashboard it shows I own the Fenix A320 but when I click download all I get is "Page Can't be Displayed" error in my browser.  The same error I got when I tried to update in the Fenix app that runs in the background when I have the plane loaded up.

Must be something borked with my account.  Probably why it would not fly right in the first place!

- Lastly, consider taking the extra effort to do a clean install: Start Menu > Searchbar > Add/Remove Programs > find and uninstall Fenix A320. Delete any Fenix folders left in C:\Program Files and C:\Program Data, then run the new  installer.

You still don't have the old installation file right?

Edited by Kevin_28

I am finding some really strange behaviours with this version.

I was trying to find out if the asymmetric thrust situations were more realistically dealt with, and indeed with the AP engaged we now see a realistic slight bank / sideslip towards the "Good Engine" on an engine failure scenario, specially while still not clean ( during initial climb ) before or after ACC ALT. but then sometimes some weird pitch oscillations begin, and the FBW wants to send it towards Alpha Prot then back, then again...

Manually flying under such scenarios can result on the same outcome.

I'll try to better isolate the circumstances under which these oscillations occur.

In my downloads folder I have 1.5.1.198 exe file which is fairly current and what I had before.  However I believe a newer version is out and was trying to get that one.  I actually don't think it would make a difference for my problem but was hoping to just fetch the latest installer so I am on the latest version.
