Can we just all agree on that 2 pictures of a half airplane is not a „preview“ in any kind of way?

I can agree that it isn't enough of a preview for you and others like maxis.

Edit: BTW there were 4, but two of them were of the same part of the plane but at different angles to showcase different things.

It's a preview.

No chance.  They will do their marketing and sales trick of releasing the lowest selling model first like they did with the 736 then 737 then 738/9

It's all about the sales.  Don't be fooled

If so, I’ll be enjoying the ini A300 until the 77W releases and then decide whether to buy or not based on any bread crumbs known on when the ini A350 may be out. The ini A350 will be the king of long hauls with the FBW A380 a close second.

I’ll put my hands up here and admit I’ll be one of the thousands crashing the PMDG servers with my credit card the minute this is released.

Yes, its definitely not what I consider a preview.  Its a teaser.  Im not complaining though.  They make great products, they can tease their 777 how ever they want.

No you misunderstand.  The fault is that PMDG is held to a standard that no other developer is.  Just because people dont like the CEO basically as far as I can tell.   They have the most complete and realistic product line in MSFS (737-600-900ER).  Their next competitor has just a CFM A320 with a continuously delayed IAE, A319 and A321.  At this point anyone who constantly nitpicks and puts down PMDG's constant updates has shown themselves as a not serious judge of product unless they are also doing the same for Fenix.

Very well said.  And for the people that complain about RSR's wordy updates, at least we get updates.  So many devs basically go radio silence when they run into issues and delays.

I must be a minority, the a380 just doesnt appeal to me at all, and the a350 is a beautiful airplane but the 777 is just so ubiquitous with all of the real world 777f, -200er, and -300er routes and operators.  I think the king of long hauls will still be the 777 series.  Oh word not allowed am I a boeing guy?

Yeah I think you underestimate how many people are interested in actual real life routes and flights. I for one will be flying the A380 from Cleveland to LaGuardia for example.

Its not just that for me, I think the A380 is the ugliest airliner ever built.  I just have zero interest in flying it compared to any other widebody airbus or Boeing.   I'll show myself out now lol

I quickly scanned the thread at PMDG and noticed what I thought was comments regarding deep flight testing and some re performance relative to 737, and yet just a few segments of fuselage and not a single image of the  cockpit, yet all these glowing comments?

PMDG could post a pic of a rivet - and folks would be like: Absolutely stunning! Incredible! First day buy!

I sincerely hope they are going to do a better job with the inside texturing compared to the 737.

I guess some people feel annoyed that PMDG is giving so little information with those screenshots, but that's how modern viral marketing works. If I were Randazzo, I would do the exact same thing, since it gets the most publicity and most outreach for PMDG, which leads to the highest amount of sales.  I believe some of the people that are annoyed with this advertising strategy with PMDG will end up buying the advertised PMDG product anyways.

I saw a PMDG 777 post at the top of Avsim, the Reddit flighsim forums, and an FSElite article with lots of comments, etc. So the fact that PMDG was dominating the news in the flight sim world for several days (before iniBuilds announced the A350, A380, and the impending release of the A300 which took away the news cycle from PMDG), it was a good marketing strategy from Randazzo.

The irony is, Randazzo didn't really even do outreach advertising yet (ie. approach specific sites like FSElite, approach streamers, etc), to get the news of the 777 in front of you. He will probably do outreach advertising as the release approaches, but I don't count that forum post as a form of outreach advertising.  He didn't even advertise the PMDG 777 on the official PMDG website - when I go to the PMDG website, I only see the 737 on the homepage.  He merely posted an update on the 777 in the PMDG forum which is supposed to be for PMDG members, but people are taking the information from the PMDG forum and posting it outside of the PMDG forums at various sites like Avsim, Reddit, FSElite, etc. In other words, other people are spreading the word for Randazzo - pretty smart, if you ask me.

Your missing the mark...

My complaint is not about asking PMDG to post firm or even approximate release dates. That's a nice to have .. not a must have..

My issue is the stupid tease shots like we are at a stupid burlesque show. You got previews and you stated youre going to show previews ? .. great!! .. show the actual previews.. otherwise .. for me personally i'm not interested.

you're right that this was teased as an "event" of sorts, and the shots released are irritatingly useless

Bingo!

And best of all, those folks who keep going on about how annoying RSR is about it (were people actually arguing about the meaning of "preview" earlier in this stream?) contribute the most to the marketing effort. Truly an LOL moment.

Bravo!

I know. I love the PMDG threads. We get to read some far out stuff for sure.

RSR teasing about "previews" along with some eggnog absolutely did not make me anticipate any "event" of consequence 🙂 .. guess some interpreted his sentence differently 🤷‍♂️

Just need to go by history and recent history of their 737 roll-out.. the likelihood of substantial/detailed previews from PMDG at the very beginning of beta is very low.
