February 18, 20242 yr I'm also suffering from CTDs, but I guess it's expected when you have a beta build. Overall, though, I am very pleased with the performance. I just upgraded my GPU to the 4070 Ti S paired with a 5800X3D, and I'm able to fly with ultra settings and TLOD at 250. NYC, LA, Seattle, Paris - no FPS issues whatsoever, and with FG, it's heaven. I have noticed, in most scenarios, my VRAM is hovering around 11GB. At 3rd party airports, VRAM jumps to around 13GB on average. There is one setting that does impact FPS and smoothness, and it's AI. I've decided to leave it off and continue to use the LVFR static package. Edited February 18, 20242 yr by YVR_23
February 18, 20242 yr I would be interested to know if those experiencing CTDs have used the DLSS Swapper utility. I'm sure the majority won't have used it, but there may be some that have.

Hard to know if this is related as there could be almost an endless number of issues causing CTDs. I remember suffering from frequent CTDs in a previous beta, and discussed various potential causes and solutions in a thread over at the official forum. All sorts of suggestions emerged, like audio driver issues, RAM errors, etc etc etc. IIRC the thread ended up having 1000+ posts... 7950X3D | RTX 4090 | 64GB DDR5

I was getting CTD with 737 every single flight in the beta without fail. I noticed that using the swapper thing left a rogue file lying around as well as the two dll files. I removed this, and was able to complete a flight with the PMDG. Maybe a coincidence, but I was getting a CTD every single flight, and then was able to complete one after removing. I might try one more this evening and see if it crashes again but it’s already gone 1am! Edited February 19, 20242 yr by abennett
February 19, 20242 yr talking about stutters or the lack thereof and to put focus once more on constant frametimes rather than mere fps: looking back again at pre-SU15 beta times back in 2023 this is what we had, RTX 4090 framegeneration or not: Frametimes: SU15 beta and similar to Captain Piett's research: look Ma, no stutters because of near zero frametime variances as never seen before in MSFS: frametime variance under 2 milliseconds for 99.53% of all frames= no stutters noticeable. Framerates; 135 fps @ 4K, LOD + TLOD = 200, graphic settings high/very high, TAA, NVidia framegeneration, C172 over pacific northwest great CPU load distribution on all 8 cores: yes I confess: this is not exactly your PMDG over KJFK scenario, but the smoothest stutter free experience for General Aviation pilots. when I signed up for the very first MSFS beta flighting in September 2019 and we got the first water-marked beta finally in January 2020, I was totally overwhelmed, but never expected we would see this level of optimisation and performance that we enjoy today. I remember the naysayers back then: "wait till the airliners and large airports are available. you will be stuck at 20 fps". coupled with the WorkingTitle avionics, this unprecedented performance is second to none and is what keeps me flying MSFS 2020 for 4 years now, nearly on a daily basis. I can tell by my electricity bill. 🤣 benchmark tools used: presentmon by Intel https://game.intel.com/us/intel-presentmon and CapFrameX https://www.capframex.com/ Edited February 19, 20242 yr by turbomax AMD 7800X3D, Windows 11, Gigabyte X670 AORUS Elite AX Motherboard, 64GB DDR5 G.SKILL Trident Z5 NEO RGB (AMD Expo), RTX 4090, Samsung 980 PRO M.2 NVMe SSD 2 TB PCIe 4.0, Samsung 980 PRO M.2 NVMe SSD 1 TB PCIe 4.0, 4K resolution 50" TV @60Hz, VR: Pimax Crystal Light + HP Reverb G2 @ 90 Hz, Honeycomb Bravo Throttle Quadrant, be quiet 1000W PSU, Noctua NH-U12S chromax.black air cooler. 60-130 fps. no CPU overclocking. very nice.
February 19, 20242 yr Hi all, I enrolled in the SU15 beta last Thursday. I also see a lot more smootheness and less stuttering while panning, with one exception though: the Inibuilds A300. Stuttering has become worse to the point where a few minutes after loading the flight just panning around in the cockpit becomes a slideshow. I must admit that I tested this at resource heavy KJFK and the newly released KMIA airports with FSLT traffic running. However, both airports/scenarios work just fine when in the Fenix or PMDG cockpits. Has anybody else experienced the same? Kind regards, Nico Edited February 19, 20242 yr by Stroman81

Nothing comes close to it, especially when frame generation is used. Usually, you get very good FPS but very bad graphics. Or you get very bad FPS but very good graphics. With MSFS, you get both good graphics, and very good FPS! Edited February 19, 20242 yr by abrams_tank i5-12400, RTX 3060 Ti, 32 GB RAM
February 19, 20242 yr I haven't had a CTD for many months prior to now. First two flights in SU15 beta both ended with CTD's. Same exact flight, at almost the same exact point in the flight....interesting. I'll stay on the Beta for now to see if they persist.
February 19, 20242 yr I feel sorry for all of those experiencing CTDs with this latest update. Just for anyone still wondering about jumping aboard the beta (and being prepared to rollback to the pre-beta release if things don't go well), I've been using it for the past week, using DX12 and I've had no CTDs so far, nor any visual glitches as a result of using DX12 — just all of the benefits of the improved performance (and they are huge wins btw) and the G3X. I hope they've already identified the CTD cause(s) and are working to fix them in a beta update soon.

They've certainly come a long way during my 1yr hiatus 😄 I'll jump back into the beta when there's indication that the CTD issues are resolved. Oh, and btw @turbomax it seems that Noel currently holds the Avsim FTV record with a value of 99.73 😄 Edited February 19, 20242 yr by Cpt_Piett 7950X3D | RTX 4090 | 64GB DDR5
