SU15 BETA available now!

Featured Replies

Thank you, Fielder.

I've noticed this issue after the update (SU 15 Beta). Never before happened to a plane in MSFS.

I'll try to change sensitivities.

Regards.

I bet the real 172 has a rudder trim!

No it doesn’t, it has a small surface on the trailing edge of the rudder that can be manually bended on the ground, it work a bit like a rudder trim but you can’t ajust it while in flight. Usually no one ever touch it, it is preset an if you need more rudder trim you can only use your feet

Zounds, surprising, I wonder about that design choice.

5800X3D, RTX4070, 600 Watt, one or two 1440p 32" screens, 64 GB RAM, 4 TB  PCle 3 NVMe, Warthog throttle, VKB NXT EVO stick, Honeycomb Alpha yoke, CH quad, 3 Logitech panels, 2 StreamDecks, Desktop Aviator Trim Panel. Crystal Light VR.

You need to reinstall the entire sim when it will be out of the beta? The download speed is ridiculously slow, no beta testing for me

Missing the PMDG DC6 in MSFS 2024 (she's here, but...).

In this Beta, using two 1440p monitors side by side at resolution 5185 x 1440p I get 84-91 fps out of default JFK flying towards Manhattan skyscrapers. Using 1 monitor 2560 x 1440p I get 98-106. Those fps are not important to anyone else, but before the beta it was at least 25 fps less. So the relative difference going from non beta to beta was enormous.

Other people saying only a little performance improvement in the beta, so hard to predict what will happen to someone else who now tries the beta.

By the way, one 4K monitor uses more pixels than when I'm using two side by side 1440p monitors. More pixels = lower fps.

No you don't need to reinstall the entire sim. Who said this?

You can leave the beta to revert back to the previous version. Once you leave the beta, use the Xbox PC app to force an update or restart your PC and you'll receive the update to revert back.

Speaking of CTD's, I've had 4 CTD's in the past hour. No CTD's yesterday so I suspect the CTD's are server related.

I hope so...I hadn't had a CTD in over 12 months. Downloaded SU15 Beta today and had 3 CTDs in 3 flights.

There's a ever growing thread on the official forums about the same CTD with the Beta (https://forums.flightsimulator.com/t/ctd-with-exception-code-0xc0000005-fault-bucket-1945005070971162045-type-4/630222/56). That thread is marked as feedback logged....but not bug logged unfortunately.

Most small GA planes of this category are operated this way, it is a proven design, from the DA40 to the Cirrus SR22 most of them use the same trick. But it is to note that Piper Pa28 family are equipped with rudder trim

and one VR headset corresponds to two 4K monitors.

example my HP Reverb G2: 2160x2160 pixels per eye = 4.6656 million pixels times 2 = 9.3312 million pixels = lower fps of 55-60 versus 90-120 fps in 2D, but still totally smooth due to constant frame times since SU15 beta. imagine half a billion pixels per second, or 46.565 trillion = 45,000,000,000,000 pixels each day. day in day out.

60-130 fps. no CPU overclocking.

very nice.

For me every flight that is longer than 1 hour causes a CTD, I opted out of the beta for now.

The reports for the C172 ground handling seem positive from the official forums on this thread https://forums.flightsimulator.com/t/ground-contact-resolution-improvements/630251/

  • I'm testing out the c172 right now and yes ive noticed a big change taxing using auto rudder I dont have pedals, It no longer feels like im trying to turn a truck around the taxiway, I barely have to move the yoke or brakes to get lined up on the taxiway
  • So I tried this last night. I jumped into the 172 at Alderney 26 (fairly short and narrow) and set up a 20G30 southerly, checked with windsock and sea state all good. I then took off and was able to control it on the runway quite well even with the awful TFRP I have. It seemed great.
  • I am not an expert, but i tested out the 172 (g1000) and it FELT to me a lot more controllable in take off and landing. It wobbled on the ground and it felt better than i remember
  • I flew around Long Island this evening in the XCub & C172. Previous to this beta, I had noticed “slippage” which required a fair amount of corrective rudder to resolve. I landed at & taxied around quite a few airstrips this evening, mostly grass, but also at Gabreski, where I deliberately set up a crosswind for landing. There is, IMO, a significant improvement, both on grass & hard surfaces. Even with the crosswind, I hardly needed to apply any rudder to keep taxiing in a straight line. No sliding at all, so definitely more controllable, as far as I’m concerned. Note: I’m using a Logitech Extreme 3D Pro with the default sensitivity settings. I’d expect the experiences of others to vary based on the controller & settings they are using, but hopefully all will notice at least some improvement.

The 172 rudder is rigged so that you should not need any rudder input when in level flight at normal cruise airspeed. You will need to hold right rudder in a climb with full power. The tab allows the pilot to adjust the “zero trim” setting (on the ground of course). The 172’s engine does not have enough torque and p-factor to make the complexity and expense of having a dedicated rudder trim control worthwhile.

You would typically only find dedicated rudder trim on high power/performance single engine GA aircraft and on twins.

No.

When you're in the beta, you receive each new beta version automatically.  And when the final beta becomes the new release, those who are not on the beta will have quite a big update to go through.  Those on the beta will have none - because they're already on the new release version.
