Do you though, Bob? Do you really know what you're talking about? Just as you did when you wrongly assumed I didn't do an autoland last night which in fact I did. That claim of yours sent me on a

  • Great Job Bob I applaud your level of expertise. I guess with all your years of experience you will be able to cure the problem you have with your display instead of constantly complaining about it !!

This reminds me of that hokey old gag about the aircraft maintenance write-up: PILOT: Autoland on this aircraft is excessively firm MECHANIC: Autoland not fitted on this aircraft

In the last couple of weeks, I have been flying nothing but the Fenix, now up to about 16 flights. The two biggest complaints I had, which kept me from flying it, was the ground handling on takeoff and the PFD brightness at the top of the screen.

From reading on their discord page, I solved the erratic takeoff centerline problem. It was easy once I discovered that full forward on the sidestick, until you get to around 90 knots, and now I can hold the centerline with no problem.

The second issues isn't solved yet, but I got an email from their tech support this morning, they are aware of the brightness issue and are currently working on a fix. 😃

The PFD and ND brightness is a real pain and I hope they come up with a fix soon. I have to crane my neck toward the screen to read the text clearly. Out of interest does the Fenix have pop out screens? I just notice that the mouse cursor changes to a hand when passed over those 2 displays. Just wondering if it’s just my system not showing them or they actually don’t exist.

Am I the only one flying LBS or the only one with the MACZFW issue?

I have two recurring issues after Block 2 (I fly Lbs.)

1) My TLA indicated vs. HW positions do not marry past 1.01.

2) My AOC Final Loadsheet MACZFW is always different from the EFB MACZFW

I have reached out to support several times without resolution.  I would be happy if I knew these issues are being tracked and worked on, or if I am the only one suffering from these two points, and therefore the issue is firmly behind the tray table.... are there others with this fate?

Ta!

A new A320 update, together with a completely redesigned installer is out now.

Ok, somehow THE question is not answered or at least I do not find it: do I first have to uninstall the Fenix and then use the new installer? I guess so...

Well it is a good installer. With one MAJOR flaw. It installs the A320 in your C drive, with no option to install it on any other drive. Where as before you could select any drive/folder that you choose.

No need. You can install it on top. There will be a couple of files leftover, but they are harmless and will be removed automatically in the future.

Custom install locations is on our list to add, but we want to do it properly. The old installer still placed some big files on C drive (in ProgramData, specifically), that we want to move as well.

Seriously? Then I wait, I am absolutely NOT installing Fenix on my C drive. Wonder why this is still not a default option to install wherever we as user want nowadays. How long until it can be customized?

If I install the latest update using the new installer and I had my previous version installed not on drive C will it be installed in the same directories as before or everything to the drive C?

The former. It will preserve the existing install location (set by the old installer that did allow a custom location) and update it to the latest version.

"Improved LCD simulation, allowing for extended brightness range for better readability during daytime flying"

Looks like they do not agree with some avsim forum smartss who suggested you to use window blinders and increase monitor brightness 🤣

Wondering how far off the A319/A321 are at the moment...
