Also my current simulator flight mode is point to point, $100 hamburger flights. I load up the simulator where I last parked my aircraft, find another restaurant/diner within 200 - 300 miles then fly there. The Tomahawk for me would be just to slow for this type of trips. Mike It would enable you to build up a decent appetite between legs though, surely? 🙂

I was like that too, and I really had no intention of buying it because I had enough GA already. However, I kept seeing such positive reviews, and added to the fact that it's by Just Flight, I succumbed. Haven't looked back either - it's become one of my favourite light GA aircraft. We went from Perth to Augusta to Albany on day one then Albany back to Perth the next day, probably a 600nm round trip. The little tomahawk did ok, alright if the PA28 had been available we’d have taken that for sure, but the tomahawk held its own. It was a good trip, i remember downwind on the way into Albany one of the tanks ran dry and the engine stopped 😯 I won’t say who’s fault that was…but I wasn’t flying that leg! My mate didn’t panic and went robotically into his memorised engine failure drill which included flipping the big red fuel tank selector switch in the middle to the other tank, at which point the engine spluttered back into life. How I laughed Ha ha! Great story. What if you HAD taken up a PA-28...and he was flying from the right-seat. You would have had to reach down and flip the fuel selector for him. ha! June 12, 2025Jun 12 I want so much to buy this because I love low-and-slow flying, but alas it doesn't include autopilot. I know the real one doesn't have it either, but I have two toddlers and it's incredibly rare for me to get stretches of more than 10 minutes without having to step away to do something for them. I wish JF had put an AP module on it, or even just a hidden altitude hold similar to the hidden VS control they have on their Arrows.

June 12, 2025Jun 12 From the manual - Quote The real PA-38 Tomahawk was not equipped with an autopilot, but for convenience we have included options on the EFB that allow you to control some basic autopilot modes: MASTER – engages/disengages the autopilot. ALT – engages/disengages altitude hold and holds the altitude at the time of engagement. HDG – engages/disengages heading hold and holds the heading at the time of engagement. NAV – engages/disengages NAV mode. Can be used to follow a route loaded into one of the GPS units if the GPS is also set to GPS mode. June 12, 2025Jun 12 Some poeple don't seem to realise us sim pilots are doing something extremely important, and distract us with their petty demands. This makes an autopilot 'feature' very useful. It's not that I'm trying to be lazy and I just need magenta and autopilot for every flight but I've got kids and life going on so as a dad I can't just sit down for 1 hour interrupted for a nice hand flying flight... Sometimes I use pause but if its a longer flight and I'm just at cruise an AP is really nice. I'm a bit off topic now but thats why im so happy Marc made the new C185 mods for MSFS 2024 with the dual GTNxi and AP! June 12, 2025Jun 12 Autopilot is a must. I love low and slow GA flying, but hand flying in a sim just isn't practical. At some point you need to turn on time accel and set the AP. This seems like a good compromise to put in in the tablet. ------------------------- Craig from KBUF

"Their petty demands" 😁 The tablet-based AP works well enough, it's perfect if you have to get up and do something for a few minutes. I haven't tried any old (2020) paints with this new 2024 version yet...I assume they will all work? Rhett 7800X3D ♣ 96 GB G.Skill Flare ♣ Gigabyte 4090 ♣ Crucial P5 Plus 2TB
June 14, 2025Jun 14 You all talked me into buying this. I must say, it is fun to fly. I'm using the old school no gps panel and my vor skills are so rusty. Such a fun hand flyer. ------------------------- Craig from KBUF
