May 30, 20242 yr The fact that I can fly around my city with everything resembling what I see in RL, is quite UNIQUE, no other sim does that. May 30, 20242 yr 1) Ground scenery. Unbeatable (as long as you don't go to MPTO or SKBQ). 2) Easier than ever to install liveries or sceneries: just drag&drop and that's all. No fiddling with CFGs, or adding scenery libraries... 3) Frame generation (either official or the mod). 4) The ability to fly on the go (for those that have Cloud Gaming subscription). 5) Detailed GA and the A310. I could say the same about the 748 and 78X, but I still feel they have something off. And low-res imagery there. Also Low-Res image in Peru / Bolivia. The Darien is remote in real-world and remote in sim too I guess. No, I mean the ground scenery in the area surrounding these airports looks as if it reverted to offline mode (which looks worse than FS8). 1 hour ago, Mace said: The Darien is remote in real-world Eh... MPTO is 200 km away from the Darién Gap. SKBQ is even further away. Each airport serves a 2-million-people city. Not precisely remote. I can drive to Yaviza in Panama and no further! Unless I have a snorkel on my Jeep. Then it's jungle/swamp/mountains for many, many km. THAT's remote. You're thinkin distance, of course it's close to BQ and Panama as the crow flies. But I can't drive to a place like Puerto Obaldia, I can only get there by boat or plane. It's remote. May 30, 20242 yr @Mace, with "surrounding these airports" I meant barely 1-2 km around each of these airports. No further than that. I guess now it's clearer. May 30, 20242 yr MSFS is unique in that its strongest feature, taking real world map image data and mapping into a flight sim is also its weakest feature if the image data is poor leading to poor scenery in the sim. John C. Specs: black box thingy with spinning fans, lights and a bunch of wires that go to screens with pretty colours and a keyboard with many keys. The black box thingy also has a push button activated coffee cup holder. John C.
May 31, 20242 yr I found the Dune splash screen pretty unique, haven’t seen it with any other FS franchise let alone P3D or XP 😁 a bit more serious, it’s the package. Ground, scenery, clouds, traffic, ATC and all out of the box - that is unique in my view Phil Leaven i5 10600KF, 32 GB 3200 RAM, ASUS 4070 12GB EVO, Asus ROG Z490-H, 2 WD Black NVME for each Win11 (500GB) and MSFS (1TB), Rolling Cache 16GB, Photogrammetry always OFF, Live Weather and Live Traffic always ON, Res 2560x1440 on 27"
May 31, 20242 yr This is what i think about MSFS currently: - The realism went up 1000x from my previous simulators P3D/FSX. The clouds and lighting made a world of difference. - Scenery is like never i've seen before in a simulator and it's all over the world. - The aircraft are SO much better than previous models, again in P3D or FSX. I did try X-Plane (11) but it just never caught my eye. - It makes much better use of hardware and current technologies thus providing a smooth experience. But it also has some annoyances: - The ready to fly button. Duh, if i wasn't i would't "be here" would i? - The UI looks great with the mod i am using, but it's _SO_ unresponsive and slow-ish it hurts - Each update brings us new splash/loading screens with stuff i don't care about. Standard loading screens are fine thank you. I couldn't believe how real it felt to see the high quality earth below and the swirling 3d clouds below the aircraft! This was something that I never experienced in any other sim.
