May 30, 20242 yr I didn't really fly many other Sims prior to this one, but the biggest draw for me and still to this day is the ability to go anywhere at anytime and fly. Not having to worry about downloading Area Maps or paying extra just to fly in one country, simply load up the Sim, randomly pick a spot on planet earth and go, marvellous. May 30, 20242 yr MSFS changed the way I fly. I used to concentrate on commercial jets and turboprops, but the scenery detail in MSFS drew me to GA planes. I particularly enjoy dead reckoning in VR with no GPS, just a map, a clock, and a compass. Even with all the ORBX scenery I bought for P3D, that would not even be close. Add to that the situational awareness in VR, and MSFS becomes a sim that is surprisingly close to the real thing. Not there yet, but just wait when ATC addons have matured. Peter

May 30, 20242 yr Night flying with jazz tune playing in the background. I used to do this with Xplane 11 as it had the best night lighting/city lights in its era. Although MSFS isn't arguably in the same level of XP12 night lighting, it still gives the sentimental mood. Flying low and slow with the Cub or the glorious freeware 152. May 30, 20242 yr As some people have mentioned already, the one thing that separates MSFS from the competition at this point is definitely the 3rd party development scene. By far, the majority of 3rd party developers are developing for MSFS now. You even have some developers from DCS World dipping their toes in MSFS. And the reason the 3rd party development scene for MSFS is so strong, is because of the market size and the money that 3rd party developers can make in MSFS. I discussed this a little already in this thread, how the latest ATC add-on developers are all prioritizing MSFS: This means MSFS will get first class treatment from 3rd party developers that are developing for multiple flight simulators. If there are such developers that are developing for multiple flight simulators, they will almost always choose MSFS first (there may be a few examples where MSFS is not the first priority, but today, those examples are probably very few in number). This is a unique selling point of MSFS, and adds a lot of value to MSFS. Edited May 30, 20242 yr by abrams_tank i5-12400, RTX 3060 Ti, 32 GB RAM

May 30, 20242 yr We already had a thread about my specific answer, but the default avionics... sure it wasn't always this way but once WorkingTitle started developing avionics I started using the sim more and more. Not just the incredible Garmin stacks, but the CJ4 ProLine 21, the B747-800 and B787 systems and avionics are just a massive step above anything else out there, and with navigraph compatilbity and the ability to have charts on them is amazing. Also, although its not a default system, I really enjoy the TDS GTNxi - it might not be unique to MSFS forever though 🙂 | My Liveries | FAA ZMP | PPL ASEL | | Windows 11 | MSI Z690 Tomahawk | 12700K 4.7GHz | MSI RTX 4080 | 64GB 6000 MHz DDR5 | 500GB Samsung 860 Evo SSD | 2x 2TB Samsung 970 Evo M.2 | EVGA 850W Gold | Corsair 5000X | HP G2 (VR) / LG 27" 1440p |
May 30, 20242 yr Just the fact that you can explore the entire world sitting at your home is truly insane. If you ask me, I honestly didn't believe that we would see something like this in our foreseeable future. Yet here we are. Baber My Youtube Channel http://www.youtube.com/user/HDOnlive

May 30, 20242 yr I would mention just the few points below: 1- It's the only sim to be beautiful even without addons, almost everywhere on the globe. 2- The multiplayer layer is not too bad (but still too far from good) and quite easy to use (that's a nice change). 3- The autogen trees color varying based on the underlying ground texture, which is basically the essential point that makes the scenery in MSFS look so great compared to any other sim.
