Over-saturated. Much like the product mentioned by thread OP in this XP forum.

Friendly reminder: WHITELIST AVSIM IN YOUR AD-BLOCKER. Especially if you're on a modern CPU that can run a flight simulator well. These web servers aren't free...

  • You must be joking to ask that question. Do you mean to tell me that you have been on XP11 all this time and never bother to use XP12 at all? To ask if the "X" is ever going to be better in the future

  • Why not use both? They have their strengths and weaknesses and no sim will ever be perfect anyway.. If you can afford a dedicated SSD for MSFS it's an easy decision.

  • I want my sim to look good at 1000ft and above and I personally don't care too much about having it look good at ground level as long as the airport looks correct. For low and slow flight, I really li

I would simply call it a screenshot lacking in details, lacking in vitality, light, color, and in which you can't appreciate almost anything beautiful (the scenery is also blurry and pasty).

Great! And I completely understand and respect that opinion, seen it multiple times over the years.

That is not just my favourite flightsim screenshot - it is my favourite screenshot of all time of any screenshots of anything, which is why I still have easy access to it some 7 years or so later.

Why?

Because that screenshot was taken practicing cross country flight in xplane, I ran in to those conditions and hit pause - basically terrified and on the verge of giving up. When I opened the map it turned out I was exactly where I thought I was - about 1/2 mile from victor alpha lima.

That was the first time I had ever seen MVFR conditions, I practiced a lot more in those conditions in Xplane.

The next time I saw, exactly what you see in that screenshot to all intents and purposes, was during my actual PPL(H) practical exam, where there is no pause button, there is no popup map, the examiner was sure we were lost because he had been relying on the nav aid, which wasn't actually transmitting, and I was as calm as a cat on a sunny day because I knew exactly where I was.

Without xplane so very accurately depicting those conditions beforehand, I would almost certainly have given up my flight training at that point - it made that much difference.

So, like, yeah, what I quantify as a "decent flightsim screenshot" and you quantify as a "decent flightsim screenshot" is without question completely different - I would say that is what Goran was just trying to articulate to you. I don't care how "pretty" my flight sim is - sure it's very nice to have pretty, but #1 priority for me is does it have the things I need from a real world aviation perspective, if it doesn't, it's garbage.

Xplane has been at the point, for several years now, where the only "garbage to please remove/fix" is things like the text pop up from AutoATC voice recognition in VR because its not realistic (an actual user request I 100% agreed with and implemented a day later). Out of thousands of MSFS views I have seen, only a tiny fraction (e.g. 3) or so have not be loaded with significantly worse issues that I was glad to see the back of or simply NEVER saw in X-Plane (e.g. missing VORs/NDBs, church spires, powerlines, bridges, complete nonsense airport lighting/signage, or superfluous stuff you just dont get in the real world).

So sure, if all you need for "decent" is "visually pleasing", then msfs has a lot to offer, but as far as I am concerned there are many, many more games I find both more "visually pleasing" and far more fun than msfs - or xplane, and when it comes to flight simulation msfs has nothing to offer I haven't already had for years, as far as I'm concerned, and I'm pretty sure that isn't just confirmation bias.

Dear Goran, do you realize that with all these pathetic "waltz turns" you fans are publicly spreading the message that from today any user would have the right to call anything "garbage", justifying it all as "it's just my opinion"🤦‍♂️
This topic has taken an embarrassing turn.
We are faced with a form of photographic denialism that fully resembles the denial of the spherical earth!! 🤭
It would be enough to say... "efis you're right, those photographs do NOT depict garbage, we fans were wrong to call the FS2020 photos garbage, we expressed a silly and senseless opinion".... and the matter would already be resolved. 👍
But it's too difficult for you fans to admit you were wrong.
No problem.
Since this is how things are, I will learn this "denial methodology" from you fans, and if unfortunately I will come across some user who will define XP photos as "garbage", I will not criticize him!
In fact I will have to compliment him, after all from today it is permissible to mistake anything for "garbage".

Cerulean skies.

Good, clean mountain air.

Or, well, less air than most places the Flatlanders live 😉

No, reality is reality.

Again; reality depends on the perception of each person. There is no reality that is being seen the same by everyone, even less when we talk about a qualitative objective view. Did you even read my other text?

Who knows, maybe the Earth doesn't exist because in reality... reality doesn't exist.... reality is subjective... so the Earth is subjective too.... so the Earth doesn't exist. 🤷‍♂️

Please continue with this comedy, I'm having a lot of fun. 🤭

The XP10 photo is not mine, I found it online.
The XP11 one is mine, and it is not made by "playing with colors" but it is the real graphics that I currently have in my XP11 (graphics obtained through skycolors.png drawn by me + my personal reshade setting).

So how do you rate those images/simulators? Garbage?

Yes some may see the earth flat because their 3D-vision doesn’t work. The comedy is being made only by you here. Even physicians explain that there are no objective clear definition of what reality is. Perhaps you can just stop trolling instead of playing the guy who don’t understand the point. So just stop the drama please.

Well yes, of course! freedom of speech and all. For the sake of argument, that picture of an actual pile of garbage you showed; that is a really great picture! Sharp, nice contrast and the colours come out nice. I call it 'magnificent', 'a work of art', 'a masterpiece', 'excellence'. See what I'm trying to do here?

Mr. Franz, I would like to point out that I politely replied to the user 4df5 who opened the topic, also inviting him not to abandon XP completely.
I replied to him as a gentleman, giving him sensible advice.
Unfortunately, another user here labeled FS2020 "garbage"....... and you "fans" instead of pointing the finger at that gentleman and telling him "please stop writing nonsense" ... you "fans" point the finger at me and say that I am a troll. 😒
As a XP community, you are not making a good impression by attacking me (who did nothing wrong!) and defending that character who allowed himself to shoot a huge nonsense against a simulator that leaves me speechless every time I see a photo or video of it. 😲
I don't consider stating that FS2020 is garbage an "opinion", it's just expressing contempt towards a product that is anything but "garbage".

I did not start this comedy, and I immediately tried to end it by telling that gentleman "let's not exaggerate now 🤭 ".
But in front of all the other subsequent nonsense expressed I could no longer keep quiet, I'm sorry, nonsense bothers me, and it bothers me even more when there is not a shred of evidence to support that nonsense.

I will not intervene in this discussion anymore, in fact it would be better to lock it up.
Happy "simulation garbage" everyone. 🚮

No. First of all, I never called anything “garbage”. I’m trying to explain to you that everyone is entitled to their own opinion.  That’s where my involvement in this ends. You have a very serious issue with that. You’re trying to force people to agree with your assessment.

I’m not waltz turning anything. But any person absolutely has the right to call something garbage…metaphorically. They can call it whatever they want. You can certainly present your case, if you want to, about why it isn’t garbage. But I don’t think you should be this emotionally invested in an opinion you simply don’t agree with.

So you want people to completely disregard their original opinion, and fully agree with you? The matter would be resolved if you simply said “I disagree with your opinion.”

Denial, for the purposes here, is disagreeing with a subjective opinion in the presence of objective fact.  mSparks posted specific images and/or video of MSFS, and had an opinion of it. You posted completely different images of MSFS to challenge his opinion. If you want the objective truth, post real world images of the location, with MSFS images for comparison, THEN we can have a discussion. If someone calls X-Plane “garbage”, which they have, many times, you are free to either agree, disagree, or get involved in a discussion with them.
As for complimenting someone on their opinion of X-Plane, you’re free to say whatever you want.  If it isn’t true, you may be challenged on it, but again, you can simply refuse to accept anything presented.
