A "simple" free castering tailwheel on some classic prop aircraft...

I'd rather have a proper fullfeatured GPS for the aircraft I also fly in real life than a "free castering tailwheel on some classic prop aircraft". YMMV - as always.

  • You must be joking to ask that question. Do you mean to tell me that you have been on XP11 all this time and never bother to use XP12 at all? To ask if the "X" is ever going to be better in the future

  • Why not use both? They have their strengths and weaknesses and no sim will ever be perfect anyway.. If you can afford a dedicated SSD for MSFS it's an easy decision.

  • I want my sim to look good at 1000ft and above and I personally don't care too much about having it look good at ground level as long as the airport looks correct. For low and slow flight, I really li

OFC YMMV, but as I made clear, I'll pick XP without looking behind if simulating a flight in an heli or prop is my aim, but if it's functionality in an airline flight simulation, Airbus or Boeing ( the only I have in both sims ) I will most probably pick MSFS 2020, with some exceptional situations where I go flying the Tolis 320 NEO.

I know I will stump against some weirdinesses here & there mostly due to some weather effects on even the bigger / heavier airliners, but overall airline flying is MSFS 2020 for me...

I also began to appreciate the latest modifications that one of the elements of the LR team did to the glider, the default K-21, and last time I gave it a try I did like it overall...

Conclusion: Both are nice sims, both have their pluses and their limitations, some of them irritating... But I enjoy both, each for it's strong points, and for sure for me none of them subsumes the other...

XP has some excellent, mature aircraft that are not yet available in MSFS (e.g. Rotate MD-11)

is that so?

Yep, that's my plan. I want to use my flight deck with MS2024 and X-Plane 12, Device (hardware/software) Interface Manager will allow me to do just that! Flight Simulation has never been better!

Quality assurance consultant gives positive review on the add on he was involved with.  Shocker.

This looks kinda troll-y

Unfortunately, no. X-Plane is doomed. Abandon ship now and move to MSFS while you still can.

Woo hoo - HotStart TBM in MSFS. You heard it here first!!!

lovely sentiments....as if Laminar isn't rich enough....give a discount 50% on xp11 people....thats the way to do it..

They have several 30-50% sales each year - for those who pay attention...

Let's see what discount we will get as premium deluxe users of MSFS 2020 when 2024 get's released...

As a side note, there are classes of aircraft like helicopters and rotary wing on general as well as more sophisticated prop aircraft or aircraft with non standard geometries where MSFS can't even come close to what XP offers

For airliners, specially those severely automated 😁 both sims do a similar job...

We'll get no discount and it'll be worth every penny 😁

I got a smokin' deal on two Cowan Sim helos for MSFS to match the same in X-Plane.

Didn't take more than a couple flights to put them away and go back to the XP versions.

Airliners still have ground & ground-air transition issues.

Great news, but it would be better to announce it on the MSFS forum, don't you think? 👍

bye X plane 11.

Why do you want to abandon XP11? 🤔
It's a great simulator, it has nice graphics, it's solid, it has a better framerate and AA than XP12 with equivalent hardware.
There is no reason to abandon it.
If you decided to abandon it, it's your choice, no one forced you to.

Usually products tend to improve over time.
So yes... we think Xplane will be better in the future.
But this news has nothing to do with XP11... that is... regardless of the future of XP12 you can continue to fly with XP11 which, as I said, is a great simulator.
Just think that in the year 2024 I'm still flying with FS9 !! 😲

It seems like a good reason to also fly with the MSFS sim.
Everyone can freely choose the simulator they prefer.

Well, I have a relatively powerful PC with a Linux Mint partition with XP12 and a W10 partition. On that W10 partition the following sims are installed: MSFS2020, P3Dv5 and XP12.

However, the last 12 months I virtually only used XP12 on the Linux partition to keep it and my addons updated and to fly online at VATSIM or IVAO. All the other sims on the W10 partion are only used to keep them and W10 uptodate.

Apart from a few sceneries (EGLL, EDDB, LSZH) for XP12 and 3 airliners, all my other addons for XP12 are free of charge and their quality is often better than those quite expensive ones for P3Dv5 or MSFS2020.

I am writing this to show which sim is for me the best.

(and it is cherry picked to be good in some places and its awful in others)

You've got that reversed.  You have to cherry pick awful as most of the planet is anywhere from good to fabulous.  Could be your biased by your RW locale, and that in part because Australia has a lot of awful, dry, barren, etc in the RW.  So does California, where I'm from and there are plenty of awful places in Cali as well and MSFS captures the awful very well.
