  • You must be joking to ask that question. Do you mean to tell me that you have been on XP11 all this time and never bother to use XP12 at all? To ask if the "X" is ever going to be better in the future

  • Why not use both? They have their strengths and weaknesses and no sim will ever be perfect anyway.. If you can afford a dedicated SSD for MSFS it's an easy decision.

  • I want my sim to look good at 1000ft and above and I personally don't care too much about having it look good at ground level as long as the airport looks correct. For low and slow flight, I really li

Oh so you embrace "absolute denialism".
And how does this discipline work?
I'll show you a picture of a nice airplane, and you go around the forums saying that it portrays garbage?
Interesting.

Depends on the situation.

I'm a Boeing guy.  Airbus fans will say Boeings are ugly.  Boeing fans will say Airbus are ugly.  Me?  I just say Boeings are better.  Is that fact or opinion?  To me, it's an opinion based on my own observations.
I think Mac’s are better than Windows PC’s. The majority of people who own computers will disagree. Who’s right?

Like I said, an opinion is a subjective comment.  The misinformation in the example you took the time to dig up, is misinformation due to objective truth or fact to refute it.

If you want to dig up old posts, please do so with full context.  However, I do appreciate the effort in finding a quote from last year.

Maybe a different approach.

I personally really like freedom of opinion.
But there is a limit between expressing opinions and expressing nonsense.

If you like 'freedom of opinion' then I think you've got to accept that people are free to express nonsensical opinions.

I really wouldn't worry about the opinions of mSparks too much.

If you view them as amusing, knockabout comedy and remember that he doesn't own a copy of MSFS, bases his wide ranging opinions on VR on his use of a PlayStation VR1 headset and that he's actually restricted from posting in some of the other boards on these forums then they become much more palatable, indeed enjoyable.

What is a bit sad is that the X-Plane forum on Avsim only comes alive when it's discussing MSFS. Otherwise it doesn't really seem to have much to say for itself these days.

There are other (much better) places to discuss X-Plane ...And the reasons for not visiting avsim might 😉 be obvious.

Really? This is news to me and millions of others.

Going to agree with Sparks on this one. Once you have surrounded yourself in a VR (3D) Plane there is no going back to a 2D panel.

So, you are agreeing with him that "No VR = Garbage"? It is somewhat of a silly statement. Poor airlines!!, still spending millions on garbage 2D training simulators instead of saving by using VR.

This statement does not apply to me. I have a few VR headsets and I use the quest 3 from time to time, but I have gone back to primarily using flat screens. I do like VR especially the Field of Depth that you get from it. But there are so many drawbacks for me including headset weight, and inability to use certain hardware like the G1000s I have on my desk. I would definitely take a home flight deck over VR at this moment in time. For some shorter hops, VR is cool.

Regardless of where it came from, that photo is beautiful, and it does not depict garbage!

I think this is the most convincing evidence that shows that you don’t understand the difference beetween an opinion and facts. Some people may not like what you define as beautiful. Reality is relative, seems hard to understand for some. Again, what is beautiful or garbage is only an opinion/a subjective question. Best example that demonstrates it: some sims were considered beautiful 10-15y ago. Now most of people would consider them „garbage“ simply because they have seen better. So the exact same thing passed from beautiful to garbage. I hope this will help you understand that difference.

I wonder why that is. Oh wait…

Yep. Nailed it.

I would haver thought people would have figured it out by now. Most people are reasonably happy with xplane. Bugs are mostly gone, issues usually peoples set ups, copying old stuff across and just expecting them to work. and of course too much garbage running in background. No one has any excuse these day for being computer illiterate.

Hence not too much to discuss.

As for MS, dont have much to say, havnt touched it since FSX, I have seeing some really nice video with really nice scenery and others that look like a flint stone cartoon, so I have no opinion on that matter.

I cant afford two sims, barely use the one i do have although im a very satisfied with it.

imho this will be the norm rather than the exception by the next major xplane version.

I would simply call it a screenshot lacking in details, lacking in vitality, light, color, and in which you can't appreciate almost anything beautiful (the scenery is also blurry and pasty).
In short, a poor screenshot.
But I certainly don't call it garbage!
Do you know why?
1) because the image does NOT depict garbage.
2) because I know that simulator well, and I know that it is not a garbage simulation.

I think I answered your question.
Now answer my questions.

How would you define this XP11 screenshot?
x-plane-2019-04-16-22-52-16.jpg

And how would you define this XP10 screenshot?
P3hAWLg.jpg

Do these photographs of XP10 and XP11 depict garbage?
Just answer "Yes or No".

No, reality is reality.
And photography was invented to represent the reality that, at the moment of the "click", is in front of the lens.
Ergo, if a photograph depicts a baby in a cradle, you cannot go around saying on forums that the photo depicts rubbish!
In photography you can express all the opinions you want about the framing, the focus, the light, the shadows, the color, the angle of the shot, etc etc etc, but you cannot change the REALITY of the object in the photo.
If the photo portrays this...

....you cannot go around saying that it is this !!
