Why is this site down so frequently?

Featured Replies

I'm just wondering why I get so many "503" errors trying to get on this site. It's down more frequently than any other site I visit. Is it being hacked all the time?  Just curious.

See that often too Jack.

Hope that you are well my friend.

Thanks Jose.  Kinda well, I'm recovering from right rotator cuff surgery and it might be messed up.  It's been five weeks and I'm still in severe pain.

Jack,

I sympathize with you Sir. I am recovering from a left shoulder joint replacement from over 12 moths ago. The right shoulder needs replacement too

but the left after surgery is still more painful than the right shoulder. Might try to live out life with the right shoulder as it is now.

I know the pain mate so I wish you well.

Thanks Tony.  If I had to do it over again I wouldn’t.  I hope you feel better soon too.

This Forum software must be about 30 years old now, not sure how many Forums are left out there this one is the only Forum I go on these days, Social Media pretty much took over. I can imagine its not that easy to keep it running

I'm Dyslexic, what's an error to you is not to me

Let’s try to enjoy using it while it still exists

I agree.  This is my favorite go to site for flight simulators.  The people here are terrific and highly knowledgeable and always willing to help.

I too, am a frequent visitor here at avsim and agree that there are many kind & helpful members herein. I hope it (avsim.com) outlives me!

I don't do social media in general, especially Facebook.  I don't like the way a lot of people behave on FB, which is why I deleted my account several years ago.  Reddit & Quora seem to have a lot of idiots and know-it-alls who seem to want to proclaim their knowledge & prowess.  Of course, this is my opinion and to each their own.

Long live avsim.com!!!

Honeycomb Alpha & Bravo, Thrustmaster TFRP. It's an older machine but gets the job done quite nicely - smooth with no stutters!

I wonder how many people complaining about this have actually donated money to keep it up and running?

I could post some but hangar chat never got much attention 😞

I second that notion Jack This website is good.

Just wanted to say that IMO forums are still the best way to exchange ideas and talk about....whatever. So much of the new platforms are based on either chat (discord) or threads which fall away and lose focus (reddit). A place like Avsim is very much still valuable and needed.

It's often said you don't fully appreciate something until you no longer have it.

On a completely different subject my football team in England had a front three that must have been the best in the world. Sadly we all get older and footballers have a very short career. I do miss two of those players. The third probably has one or two seasons left at most.

I couldn't think of a flight sim life without AvSim. It's probably the best there is even with us pesky mods sometimes upsetting a few rascals from time to time. 😁
