IFly could drop soon

Featured Replies

The gut is telling me the guys over at IFly could drop the Max soon.  The days are ticking down to FS2024.  And we have seen many previews.  It's time to send it live.

I think there is a chance it will come out before MSFS 2024, because iFly probably wants to capture some sales from customers that will be satisfied with the Asobo 737-Max. But I would be surprised if it came out within the next week. Not impossible, since Fenix dropped the A319/A321 on us so quickly, but I would definitely be surprised if the iFly 737 Max came in the next week.

Whenever I read about something being dropped, I always think they mean it's being abandoned, or cancelled.

Surely not everybody was kung fu fighting.

I wasn't joking. I won't touch a max irl or in sim out of respect for the lost and perpetual disgust towards Boeing management.

My post was against the word DROP being used everywhere these days instead of accurate descriptive words. Nothing to do with THAT other thing. The max obviously has to be forever tarnished if you instantly assume a comment about a trendy word is related.

Travelled on a MAX several times - great aircraft to travel in.

I flew on a Singapore Airlines one from Singapore to Darwin last September. It was bloody horrible, with narrow, hard seats, and restricted knee room. 😅

I flew A320 and 737max last month, and there is absolutely no difference. Seat arrangement is airlines choice to squeeze more money.

Must be airline specific - did it with Bonza and Fiji Airways.

Is IFly planning to do the other 737 Max series like the 9 and eventually the 10?  The 7 might still happen for reals eventually or maybe not!

If they are just doing the 8 that limits the appeal in my opinion and I would likely wait for the PMDG version.  Interestingly PMDG has been silent about its Max product lately.  It was said about 6 months ago the Max was complete and would just drop during the 777 cycle.  That is basically anytime now!

Doors flying off modeled?

I would say release is imminent*, because:

1. To avoid losing out on any sales after MSFS2024 releases with its own 737 MAX; and,

2. This many previews in quick succession is a typical precursor to release to market.

*Not necessarily immediate release, but I reckon before mid-October.

I think that they have already missed the boat actually.

A good proportion of us will be going over to 2024 with the free one that Asobo are saying is the most detailed plane they have ever made to the degree they are really proud of it.

So it would be a waste of money for me to buy the iFly one at this stage.

I feel sorry for iFly, but that is just the way things go in life. I just can't see them making lots of sales at this stage. It's unfortunate!

Probably. And I can understand anyone who chooses to wait for the freeware alternative in MSFS2024.

However, unlike many other payware aircraft already available, the 737 MAX is one where I want to have the bells and whistles version. If it reviews well, I will buy it.
