September 28, 20241 yr It actually my favorite ritual to start new sim as a fresh start - all the setting and binding are carefully setfrom the start . So much fun! I've enjoyed the discussions on MSFS24 and what may or may not happen with certain aspects of the Sim, you are free to ignore these threads ya know 🙂 1 hour ago, Krakin said: People must really think 2024 is a sim update I think it's fair to say that pre-Q&A it was a general assumption (and a fair one at that) that controller settings could be transferred straight over, lots of games have done this in the past. But as we found out there's been fundamental changes to the way bindings have been coded preventing a "simple" export->import, again nothing wrong with that and perfectly acceptable. If settings could be imported automatically it would save us all a lot of work. Regards. I think this will work ( not 1000% shure ) but i belive that code and usage are the same with 2020 and 2024. Sometimes it's just easier to grab a screenshot in snipping tool of some settings like controller sensitivities for example. I imagine 2024 will have enough differences to start mostly from scratch. September 30, 20241 yr We will have to see how different they are. Since it's backwards compatible, probably means the variables for the functions etc stay the same. With added functionality but that shouldn't be a big issue because anyway stuff gets added my the sim, when one is changing settings that we're not set so far. It doesn't have to be in the present right away. If it's just the document shell that is different, plus added functionality, there won't be a big reason that it's not doable. But we have to wait, if it can be done I will update the app. PS: not everyone is using the sim the same 🙂 Like I have 26 presets atm, for theamy planes I fly. Many of them were painstakingly created over weeks, if not months. It's exactly that reason, that I want to fly, that speaks for these kind of discussions. If the provide solutions to this issue. And I've seen enough ppl now telling me that they lost profiles, so seems there is a clientele for apps or solutions for this. 🙂
September 30, 20241 yr As with MSFS 2020 I figure most settings will be automatically picked up by my Honeycomb Alpha & Bravo Controls. The only thing I may have to do is Re-Calibrate my “Throttles” for most aircraft, Payware or not…No Big Deal, for me anyway. i913900KF (5.8GHz) | Case: Fractal PopAir RGB I Gigabyte Z790 UD AX| MSI Gaming RTX 4070Ti Super 16GB | Kingston Fury Beast 64GB DDR5 5200Mhz | SOLIDIGM P41 Plus 2TB NVMe M.2 SSD | Samsung SSD 870 EVO 2TB | Thermalright Frozen Notte 240 MM Liquid Cooling | LG EVO 42" Monitor 3840 x 2160 120Hz | Honeycomb Alpha & Bravo | Logitech G Pro pedals | Tobii EyeTracker | 850W Thermaltake 80+ GOLD |
September 30, 20241 yr Sure, seems there will be settings delivered for most of the hardware. But that was the case already before and still many ppl felt they have to change it 🙂 I for example always delete every binding on the keyboard, to have room for third party apps key commands. That alone is tedious, if one doesn't know how to do it in the control profile file itself. But of course I also don't panic because of it. We will see soon enough 🙂
October 3, 20241 yr Guys, 2024 is not an update, it’s a new sim! If we manage to transfer across most airports and aircraft, then that’s a bonus. I really think it’s unreasonable to expect that profiles/settings etc are also going to be cross compatible. I know we would all like to just transfer everything from 2020 across to 24, but I honestly think if we expect the worse, then when things work for the best, it will be better for our mental health 🤪 Who knows what will and will not work, we will all have to keep our fingers crossed and take it as it comes. If and when I decide to install 2024, I’m considering doing a full install from scratch, otherwise IMO, I think it could become a hotbed of issues. November 25, 20241 yr Well, not from me but someone i know made something. Hes scared to hand it out so far though ^^ Its completely different and as you saw one has 3 layers now, General, Aicraft and Aicraft specific. So even he made a tool one has to make multiple steps so do a conversion. I can ask him to take a look a here, maybe he can send it to you. If i have more time i may implement it into the app but it wont happen in a near timeframe. Maybe start of next year or soething rather. But in theory such a tool exists, yes.
November 25, 20241 yr I remember being unable to transfer my FS9 settings to FSX. It was a day of setting the sim up. Come to think of it FS98 didn't transfer to FS9. Standard for the course. James M Director of Ohio Valley Air Transport, a Golden Age VA for those who enjoy the slower pace.
November 25, 20241 yr The app will be on flightsim.to soon 🙂 I will post the link after it got reviewed there
