Most important quote: "to be crystal clear: the upcoming A380X “developer preview” release - will be in an open alpha stage. " Available to everyone.

alpha stage????? jeesh...all the previews seemed further along than that.

I totally agree.

I'd be curious to know how many thousands of hours of work they put into this project. And all for free.

My reaction to this:

Our goal with this release is to enable access to outside contributors/developers

So contributors/developers. Does that mean "everyone"?

Maybe @Watsi or somebody else from the FBW team can clarify if the Alpha will be available to everyone.

"alpha" means different things to different devs.

Looking forward to this launch, Thanks for all the work FBW have put into this project, and look forward to the continued development.

Yes it will be open to all. They also said this on the two hour stream they did with Blu Experience on YouTube. Anyone can install and download and enjoy it.

Well....whatever the case might be, I have to say that I am really impressed with what I've seen so far from these guys. Don't know much about 380, but  honestly I thought that we won't see nothing like this. I watched the video and depth of simulation was impressive really. How accurate things are with this would be interesting to see in following days.... But hey, they deserve the credit...

Yes they've said it's available to anyone further down on that site. Don't have the quote available at the moment

Traditionally, Alpha meant non-feature complete, and beta meant feature complete

But yeah as you said it seems vary these days.

It essentially means we’ll be merging content relating to the a380 that was previously stored in private repositories to the public ones. Therefore anyone and everyone can contribute should they see fit.

Of course any code changes will still go through various stages of QA and require references for said change to be merged into the main code branch.
