FBW A380 NOTAM 22.10.24

Featured Replies

Apparently performance of the A380X was better (at times significantly) in the MSFS 2024 tech alpha when some of them tested it there .. but they're still saying cautioning not everything is expected to work right out of the gate when 2024 releases.

The screenshots of the cockpit they're shuffling thru in the stream now, oh my!

  • You can tell the humility and character of the FBW devs by their calling this initial release an alpha.  It will no doubt be orders of magnitude better than some payware developers' 1.0 releases.

  • Read the link. It just means it's not feature complete. They've written it will be perfectly flyable on Vatsim (which is not something the payware (!) FSS E-Jets or the Aerosoft A330 can say...).

  • It essentially means we’ll be merging content relating to the a380 that was previously stored in private repositories to the public ones. Therefore anyone and everyone can contribute should they see f

Looks like Andreas has tested it in MSFS 2024, he said it works (not everything there) and the performance is better there. Good days ahead of us

Question about feel of flight, inertia, etc...
A: On the ground you'll certainly feel the heaviness of the aircraft.. in the air they're working a lot on feel of flight. Various type-rated pilots helping out. As in IRL it feels light and nimble in the air (vs ground) but the inertia is felt when a roll is initiated, once it starts turning then it feels agile as per IRL aircraft apparently. Landing and flare also conveys the heft of the aircraft.

It seems that their graphical modeling in the cockpit is much higher quality than what they have on the A320neo.  Looking forward to spending some time with this one.

Yeah it was really a huge difference overall. I had Aerosoft EDDF, Photogrammetry and the A380 and it was so smooth even with TAA and everything on Ultra only level of details on 100. it’s really lovely.

But there have been strange issues with the plane when starting the flight. But I wouldn’t pay too much attention into that, because in another payware airliner for example the cockpit was unusable - but I guess this type of stuff will be fixed until release, I mean it was a Tech Alpha to test the backend services and not the client.

Well isn't the A320 cockpit still a modified Asobo model?

I don't think they've completely remodelled it yet.

I played with it at FS EXPO and it looked ready to go.  Not sure why they are calling it an Alpha.  It's more like a late stage beta. Excited to finally get my hands on it.

Because it isn't feature complete.

Not it is not. A beta is always feature complete. This aircraft is not feature complete.

So then the PMDG 737 is actually an alpha...

If it has everything PMDG themselves wanted, then it's feature complete.

31st October SQ 345 LSZH-WSSS will be delayed due to Captain being on training, with strong tail winds we shall be on time at Changi airport, as usual. (I know no SQ livery and cabin yet, but who cares for an inaugural flight!)
