"alpha" means different things to different devs.

I think they interpret the difference between Alpha and Beta in the features. A beta is feature complete and is tested for bugs and final polish.

An alpha is not feature complete and normally not released to the public, not even to testers.

  • You can tell the humility and character of the FBW devs by their calling this initial release an alpha.  It will no doubt be orders of magnitude better than some payware developers' 1.0 releases.

  • Read the link. It just means it's not feature complete. They've written it will be perfectly flyable on Vatsim (which is not something the payware (!) FSS E-Jets or the Aerosoft A330 can say...).

  • It essentially means we’ll be merging content relating to the a380 that was previously stored in private repositories to the public ones. Therefore anyone and everyone can contribute should they see f

I'll certainly contribute to this, the sheer time the guys at FBW have put into this aircraft, means for me the least i can do is a donation to their costs.

If it's 'VATSIM ready', which apparently it is, then normal ops should hopefully be okay.   Can you imagine Dubai on release day?

It's agnostic of the in-sims physics system. The reason for not being available for FS24 (officially) is because quite frankly no one has access to the new sim to test things out. You're free to try it out on FS24 before we officially give the go ahead and see what happens.

You and 1500 other people.;)

For this freeware A380, FBW will get the money I might have spent on the payware AH Boeing 707. There's a symmetry to it.

Surely not everybody was kung fu fighting.

Mostly just minor stuff or A32X placeholders for now.  The entire project seems totally amazing!

Not too bad a list of INOP, though some notable items are missing:

  • Accurate CI, OPT and REC MAX FL computation
  • Fuel planning on FMS/FUEL&LOAD page
  • PFD backup scales
  • Interactive ND
  • Vertical Display: Only fixed vertical range (until FL240) w/o FMS trajectory
  • EFIS CP: Multi-selection for some filters
  • Weather radar / WXR
  • TAWS obstacles
  • TCAS
  • Custom engine model (current model is modified LEAP-1A)

Nevertheless, it doesn't look 'light' in terms of what is not on that list and I'll be grateful to get my hands on it!

Update to INOP list in their GitHub update:

Removes EFIS CP multi selection filters & TCAS from A380 inop systems as they have been implemented in the plane.
