Carl, the Development version is fine and I cannot really comment on the ground handling other than say that I don't have a problem with it at all (I use a tiller).

Bernard-

I appreciate the pointer to the DEV version. The taxi behavior is indeed better. I use a tiller as well and was referencing the idle thrust breakaway which is present in the DEV version but was not in the STABLE.

I am an A380 fan, but in addition I appreciate that it shares Airbus avionics with the A350 which I am really looking forward to.

Thanks again- C

Best-

  • I would say with a high margin of safety that this is the biggest community achievement in the history of Flight Simulation as a whole, and not even by a small margin.

  • click spot to disable the cabin. I found it helped a bit with VRAM performance

  • So far I am mind blown. It seems to be much better than I've expected. I still need to do a full flight on it, but just playing a bit with the avionics I can see that a lot of effort has been put into

When the throttle is at IDLE the poder of the engines are at 4.2 instead of 0. Is that right? Or i have a bar calibration?

Anyones else's engine fans not spinning? Both stable and dev versions.

Doesn't appear to be affecting performance of the aircraft at all, just slightly triggers my OCD. 🤣

This is not throttle position but thrust. Even idling engines produce some thrust.

Do you have GSX?

I also had this issue when I turned on seated passengers for the A380

I do have GSX but only really use it for pushback when flying this boat.

As I said, no big deal and definitely not going to make me stop flying it, inbound to Frankfurt as we speak 🙂

Was jjust curious if it was happening to anyone else.

As we all know, even while cruising under autopilot, long-haul pilots are keeping themselves busy in the flight deck. Just to name two things, you're constantly updating your mental picture about viable enroute diversion options and looking to optimize efficiency by planning step climbs. With our latest development version, the A380X is now helping you with that:

  • Plan step climbs via the "VERT REV" page, accessible via the F-PLN or PERF page
  • Visualize radials and radius circles for fixes via the FIX INFO page (accessible through the F-PLN page, F-PLN INFO menu)
  • Look up runway information on the DATA/AIRPORT page

And if you wish for a little rest, or want to have more time discussing layover activity options, you can enable Automatic Step Climbs in the EFB (Settings → Realism) — one luxury real-world pilots don't have. Which is why we mark these options with (unrealistic). Enjoy! Special thanks to @[Z-efbv4] holland (he/him) for implementing FIX INFO, @senolitam for implementing the AIRPORTS page, and @utkrishtm for extensive testing of the (auto) step climb functionality.

Can someone give me a Simple guide on how to install, from scratch because I no longer use FS 2020, the A380 in FS 2024, and what quirks will be more noticeable?

Thx!

Simply use the installer and point towards your 2024 Community as opposed to 2020.  I use the dev version but if you’re Squeamish a stable is anvailable. Oddities?  It has some I’m sure but what I value is the FMS and AP function and behave as I would expect them to as a sim pilot with thousands of hours airbus time, starting way back in FSX/FSL time.

Good luck and what the hey?  It’s Free!

You could  always copy  it from your FS2020 community folder and drop it into the 2024 one....I've found it's hit and miss though. Sometimes the plane will not load at all, sometimes the sim will hang...I've found a way to mostly get it to work. Load the plane onto an active runway so that all of the systems are booted up. Reposition yourself to a gate using GSX. Shut down to your desired state, and initiate your flight. After that first load in, it should be good to go from there, loading in at a gate without issues.

Not necessary. Just do it the way btacon described and point the installer to the MSFS24 community folder.
