Sure.  They won't ban me for using a pseudonym out of professional privacy concerns there.  They did on the forum because I had the temerity to be honest about it, instead of lying like all the other folks using fake names that are designed as jokes they apparently don't even get...  😁

I'm impressed usually the older gentlemen don't like discord haha.  I love it myself.  Forums are kinda clunky nowadays.

When I started simming decades ago, users used to communicate on Usenet. Many forum members today would have a heart attack, if they had to deal with that format. I can remember people getting threatened with bodily harm during a heated discussion. 😉

I have hardly been able to access Discord - always end up in a authorization loop -- but when I have I found it one of the most distasteful platforms I have encountered. I just avoid it -- and this is from someone who uses almost every communication platform out there. Maybe it is an age thing.

I am 84 and love it, don't think it is an age thing.

I think a lot of people also don't understand its original intent and various orgs/etc have tried to use it for things it wasn't intended for which has pushed them to add new features to try and improve those emerging use cases.  When I started using it in 2016 it was a revolution for voice chat for online gaming.  That was its original purpose.  Replace apps like Ventrilo and Teamspeak with something much easier to set up and configure and to provide high quality voice comms along with some persistent chat channels so you didn't have to set up a website/forum for your gaming guild/clan and everything could just be in one place.  TS and Ventrilo sounded horrible in comparison back then.

Guys, Discord isnt a replacement for a forum. Think of Discord as a chat room like IRC (Im dating myself here).

When I enter a Discord page I feel like I'm entering a teenager's room, with all his mess, his socks lying around and his mismatched shoes under a pile of clothes of questionable cleanliness.
In short, I just want to get out of there quickly! 😂

Their forum and their discord are a nice studies for extreme word not allowed'ism and censorship so just out of curiosity for social analysis its a def row one popcorn event you should be in on all channels. 😄

Otherwise you can have chaotic froums and discords. If you structure a discord with chat and threads and forum section it is a nice single place of comms. But when both are setup ok they support each other quite well.

In our VA we learned over a long test period that it makes no sense to support a forum in parallel anymore and just did let it starve as nobody (independent of age ranging from real young to middle of 80s) was using it anymore. But as said before depends on structure and maintenance as all comm mediums.

Disappointing my perfectly acceptable post was removed from this thread, yet trolls are openly allowed in others throughout this forum.

I don't own a PMDG product yet, I might do in the future, but it's my choice not to enter their discord at this time and so I mentioned it, no harm in that whatsoever, I wasn't rude in any way shape or form, plenty of other people have posted in threads when they don't own the product.

If you're gonna start deleting acceptable posts, at least have the decency to explain why in a Private Message please, thank you.

Yup, it was existing before already as a clear user to user support chat only. Then came the dedicated 777F Discord and now the announcement for the general one. Even PMDG looks like noticed that you can't win a flowerpot with a forum only these days.
