Prepaid for MSFS. Where will it be for download?

Featured Replies

I prepaid for MSFS 2024.  Just curious as to where I will be downloading it on the 19th.  Will we receive an email with a download link, or do we have to manually go to a particular site to acquire the download?  Should I just go to the Microsoft store?  This will be MSFS for computer, not Xbox. Appreciate the info if you know.

Where did you buy it?

It should be available to DL/Install now from the Library in your MS Store then it will unlock on the 19th...

Pre-purchasers should install the game.
They then will have a few basic files that when the game is started, result in this:

Once it is released, I would expect that instead, it will go on to install the content, just as the first version did.

You are not likely to receive a download link, as you already have an installer, or another email, as you already have the game.

It looks as if MSFS 2024 is installed on the same drive as MSFS, it will insist on using the same root folder.
This would appear to be a bad idea and is probably why some alpha testers found that when they uninstalled the alpha, it took MSFS with it.

If at all possible, the ideal installation location looks like it should be on another disk altogether.

Not the OP but I bought my copy of Premium Deluxe from CDKeys.  It was. $70.00 savings over retail and all that was needed extra was to associate my key to my Xbox Live account using the redeem function in MS Store. Entered my key, it read it as MSFS 2024 Premium Deluxe and asked it I wants to use it.   Said yes, and now it says ready to install.

Could not have been easier (or cheaper LoL) and this is from a long time denier of shops like CDKeys.  I’ve learned my lesson now and will always look to sources such as these first for any future software purchases.

Yes, you should... There you download and "Play" on Tuesday.

I suspect it’s like Priceline.  Major retailers do not like to discount product themselves, bad for the brand.  Instead they use outlets such as Priceline and CDKeys to attract customers who could not afford to purchase otherwise.  That’s my guess at least.

$70.00 savings for me regardless of MS motivations in offering CDKeys at a reduced price.  I’m glad I did  😇😇😇

Ok im so confused.

I ordered the Collectors Edition and i'm in the US. They said that it will SHIP on the 19th.

So....the people that paid for the most expensive edition CAN'T even use the sim on release day??

Am I missing something here?

You should be okay its the people outside the US who have to follow this work around https://www.flightsimulator.com/lce-update/

For those in a hurry to purchase and use MSFS 2024, some quote from FSLTL (FS Live Traffic Liveries), one of the best AI Traffic developers for MSFS 2020, appearing on its Discord channel:

"However, we have been in contact with a few people outside FSLTL that have had access, and the feedback so far isn't great.  The sim attempting to place all aircraft in one parking spot, AI control issues, sound issues, etc.  Unless some fixes/changes are added before release, MSFS 2024 AI could possibly be in a worse state than even MSFS2020.  We just don't know."

Another quote from P42, a well-known developer of useful utilities for MSFS 2020 (and FSX, P3D,...), referring to the alfa testing process for MSFS 2024:

"Unfortunately, this has not been an entirely smooth process. We have seen some issues being resolved, as well as new bugs being introduced which has been frustrating."

Conclusion (for me): don't be in a hurry to install MSFS 2024.

Meh none of those are deal breakers for me. I haven't used FSLTL since BeyondATC's AI beta started.

Sounds good

Along the same lines:

The MS page says it requires 50Gb of free space.

This doesn't sound right. Are the game assets  streamed to you as needed? Certainly, if you get the big-kahuna version, you'll have a bigger footprint than 50Gb? Right?

This is the main question I have is how much room do you need in reality.
