MSFS2024 Performance - your thoughts?

Indeed. I loaded up the same scenery, same time of day (basically same conditions), with default A321 and Fenix A321, and the difference is crazy. More than 40 FPS difference between the 2 aircraft.

Is de Fenix 40FPS more then the default A321 ?

  • I just recieved my new 5600X3D and indeed it's a game changer... for MSFS2020. On 2024 I still have serious performance issues, and looks like I'm not the only one having them (thanks for your comment

My performance has been amazing. Capped in NVCP using FG to 90FPS and everything ultra, I have not seen it dip once. Would easily see it dip frequently in 2020, especially during my route out of LOWI, it felt like it was rendering a needless amount of scenery way below the plane, causing drops and lower FPS. Traffic would cause a lot of stutters and even with full live traffic now, it's surprisingly smooth now. They even got rid of the awful DLAA shimmering and FG juddering as you move back and forth between monitor is much less pronounced, so the visual experience is also a lot better.

Last night I bought a 5700X3D, as it was being time to get rid of my old 3600X. Arrives next week, I'll see how does that improve my experience

Yes, since the aircraft is ran locally and not through the cloud, it runs smoother.

Mostly great performance and probably better than 2020. I had some flights in the weekend with lots of stutters though.

It seems that the new sim runs better in tough situations e.g. Heathrow with FSHud and AI traffic.

Re: the dynamic settings, not sure if it’s working properly. I tried setting TLOD higher than default in usercfg.opt, and the sim doesn’t seem to be able to dynamically change LOD to maintain a target FPS.

I've had some good performance but I've also noticed an issue where the FPS will dip to say 10-15fps for a short period of time and then it will eventually recover. It seems I'm not the only one whos noticed this looking on MSFS forums.

Good buy. I upgraded from a 5600X, and the improvement was significant. Not in raw FPS, but less stutters at the same framerate (what matters the most for me) and less heat.

Since you are upgrading from a 3600X, you'll do better than me.

PS: I think you and I will be the only simmers with an 5700X3D.

Haha why do you say it? I've seen so many recommendations for this CPU on many forums.

Guess I looked into the wrong places then😂

hit and miss for me,

this morning nice stable 80fps plus with a RTX 3080 with FG mod

Just tried the fenix and KLAX and 15fps stuttering mess and input top roll or pitch was delayed by a second, reckon this could be server related.

I7 10700K 16GB 3600MHZ RTX3080FE

Zero performance issues.

As for streaming, I went to CDG last night for the first time. That was 6-7 minutes before it started to populate in the birdseye view of the loading screen. Another 4-5 minutes on site before most of the items manifested themselves once loaded.

And after another 5 or so minutes floating around there was still no sign of the final 5-10%.

Once more stuff is downloadable I'll have a clearer view of whether 2024 is usable for us internet snails. At the moment - hell no overall.

Fairly poor compared to FS2020.  I've had to run it at 1080p which is a notch down from usual, and with lower settings.  Certainly plenty of stuttering in the default jet aircraft, almost to the point of being unplayable.  I get lots of weird rubberbanding on take off and the whole thing just is not as fluid an experience.  Running medium to high settings with FG and a solid 30FPS in 2020.  My internet is quick.

My old 3070 could run MSFS2020 on high just fine (fps 60-90+).

With MSFS2024?  This whole "it will run as well or better" did not apply to my rig.  I was getting 40-50fps with the defailt 172.  I can't even imagine a busy airport with addons.

On my old PC, the performance dropoff was huge.  Not sure if that's something to do with all my marketplace stuff being loaded without a way to turn it off.

I went ahead and upgraded to a 4080 Super and things are much better now.  I was planning on upgrading anyway, but I was a little surprised my 3070 was that "bad".

My video card was 3 years old, so that's not a bad run.  For anyone out there with an older card, you might want to consider upgrading or sticking with 2020 for now (maybe they'll find more performance).

I'm still struggling to get a good performance. See my PC config in my signature below.

At KSEZ, with the default TBM 930 a/c, my frame rate is a maximum of 30 fps with high (not ultra) settings. I'm using TAA mode, and TLOD/OLOD are set to 150. Traffic is low, and online traffic is off. From what I'm reading here, I would expect a much higher frame rate.
