November 21, 20241 yr What are your thoughts so far on the MSFS2024 performance? I have a "pretty decent" PC but I'm struggling to do a smooth flight. Even with medium settings. Is this related to the server issues or is it just the sim itself? My PC: - RTX 2070 SUPER 8GB - AMD Ryzen 5 3600X - Sim is installed on a 1TB M.2 NVME - 32GB RAM Running at 1920x1080.
November 21, 20241 yr That's not a pretty decent PC any longer. I got pretty bad performance at the bespoke EDDK but at other places I got very good performance that feels smoother than MSFS2020. Of course at this time everything is still pretty much vanilla and this might change the more add ons are thrown at it.
November 21, 20241 yr I'm getting excellent performance on a 5800x3d, 4090 and 32 GB RAM, NVME drives. Yes, my machine is powerful, but even so, 2024 is much smoother than 2020 on the same machine - no addons in either. 4K Ultra. Getting 60-100 FPS with framegen on. 30-60 fps with framegen off Edited November 21, 20241 yr by JonathanC 9800X3d, 4090, 64 GB DDR5 6000 RAM, 4 TB NVME (2x2), 4K Ultra + Framegen
November 21, 20241 yr I think you are under the recommended specifications so I would not expect a full and smooth experience. I have a 14900K and a 4070 supper and was recommended only high settings. Performance is great, but I think you will need to compromise a good deal on settings to use 2024. MSFS 2024. Primary Planes: Black Square TBM850, Duke, Baron, Caravan; A2A Comanche; FSReborn Phenom; Fexix A321; PMDG 737-7, 777: Utilities: Active Sky (Passive Mode); BATC, FSLTL.
November 21, 20241 yr I don't find 2024 runs with as many fps nor as smooth as 2020. But it's not a big falloff. If 2020 runs OK, then 2024 will too. 5800X3D, RTX4070, 600 Watt, one or two 1440p 32" screens, 64 GB RAM, 4 TB PCle 3 NVMe, Warthog throttle, VKB NXT EVO stick, Honeycomb Alpha yoke, CH quad, 3 Logitech panels, 2 StreamDecks, Desktop Aviator Trim Panel. Crystal Light VR.
November 21, 20241 yr Author On 2020 I have stable and smooth FPS (around 30-35) with Fenix and payware sceneries, which always demands more. However on 2024 I find myself with many stutters and low fps in some cases. I might keep trying to tweak settings to get them similar to 2020 Edited November 21, 20241 yr by TheGorge
November 21, 20241 yr Performance wasn't by any means bad in MSFS, but it's much improved in 2024. Need to test some specific scenarios (such as landing at JFK, but very impressed so far!
November 21, 20241 yr Didnt check fps, but on a 14700kf, 7900xt, 32gb ram and triples 2k, as smooth as butter. Just finished a flight EGLL/EDDF in the ini a320, and finally not a single stutter! Dont have any addons yet, so things may change later, but at the moment I'm satisfied.
November 21, 20241 yr My specs are just below the recommended with a 10700F instead of 10700K and a 2070 Super instead of 2080 and MSFS 2024 is running a tad better than MSFS 2020. I ran 2020 pretty vanilla outside of payware aircraft and FSTL so it is a fair apples to apples comparison. Edited November 21, 20241 yr by Los
November 21, 20241 yr Once the lag problems went away, for the most part 2024 has been running slightly more smoothly than 2020 for me. I'm on a 7800X3d with a 3070 Ti and 32g. I suspect it'll get even better when I bump the ram to 64, but I'm not in a huge rush, especially since I want to get a Pimax before the proposed tariffs on Chinese imports go into effect. I think the chip and the graphics card are sinking you, OP. The good news is that if money is tight, you can swap the chip for a 5600X3d or, if you can swing it, a 5800X3d without having to get a new motherboard/ram/etc. That's a significant processor upgrade. But you'll still be on the low end in the video card department, and the prices for good ones these days are absolutely ridiculous. November 22, 20241 yr My experience was so bad without any of my quality add-ons, that I decide to remove it and now I'm back to enjoying msfs 2020 again. There's a popular YTuber that even overclocked a powerful video card and cpu and saw very little improvement with msfs 2024. It's sad that this sim was rushed out the door and we had to deal with their decision. Good luck to all early adopters. MSFS
November 22, 20241 yr Very smooth performance on KLGA (was 2024 ready at SimMarket) with the Max 8. Ryzen 7 5800X, 64gb, 6900XT 16 GB VM. Ryzen 7 5800x, 64gb, 7900XTX 24gb
November 22, 20241 yr I have copied my FS20 settings to FS24 and am taking about a 35% performance hit in a controlled test flight. VR is too jittery to use without a headache, where it is butter smooth in 2020. Will have to do some tweaking but would be going backwards in quality from 2020 to 2024. EddieKABQ
November 22, 20241 yr Very high Gpu temperature (3800 ti here) trees over all Terrain. ground textures blurry. key assignements imposible to understand grainy clouds i Asked a refund. I have received it quickly
November 22, 20241 yr FS2024=space heater. Seriously, no other game has maxed out both my cpu and gpu so much. Large cities FL40= >95% cpu and gpu usage and 15-25fps Amazon forest FL20 = 45-55% cpu and 75-85% gpu at 50fps Over water = who cares Ultra or highest can go, FG off, DLSS@Quality, 3.5k res, 4090, 16Gig, i5-10600k@4500GHz, SSDs
